the desktop, after a mistake cut pasting some stuff out of the home file, was erased, and now the desktop is using the home file as its main. any help would be nice.

Also for anyone seeing this, the main XDG folder icons are missing their emblems for Downloads and Desktop....

I think I know what you must check.
right-click dekstop itself, and choose 'desktop preferences'
it likely has a setting to choose which system folder contents to display on the desktop
ensure that is set to ~/Desktop

i already got it fixed by a friend. one command and reboot fixed it. should i mark this as solved now?
