ACPI Error: AE_NOT_FOUND, While resolving a named reference package element LNKA/LNKB/... (20220331/dspkginit-438)
unrelated stupidity on my side. i normally read questions an warnings, but that day i was tired and pissed and steam insisted on not starting even a simplest game.... so i was trying everything carelessly, and when apt said er, i can install that vesa utils i386 for you, it will take up x space; i will also install dependencies x1, x2, ... and i will uninstall cinnamon, i said "yeah, yeah, hit it" ...
Can you take a photo of the screen when trying to boot normally?
you purged the graphical environment
somehow
if it's just that package that got nuked you can fix it by getting into a recovery mode environment or a chroot and running sudo apt install --reinstall mint-meta-cinnamon
that sounds windowsy. isn't there a log file that would go into?
Well, not when you can't access the system itself..
Can you get into a recovery shell?
when booting without that flash stick? no. you loop through root account is locked + press enter to continue.
so i can't see it now? (when the system is up)
didn't know this was that big of a mess.
i need to find another flash stick and clone the first one.
no worries. i mean i can live with this.
Can you take a photo of the screen when trying to boot normally? @charred wing
when trying without the flash stick? (because the opposite is normally to me)
sure, i'll try...
yes without the stick
i never "phoned" logs before...

(imgur is stupid)
ok, press enter there
It should either ask for login and password or let you type
i don't remember exact words, but it's a no-go.
Are you running between rooms or something?
this mention of /dev/sdc2 - do you know where it would be kept?
no i would have to restart.
So what happens after you press enter on the last screenshot?
it just stays at this "starting default.target" (image is above). i can ctrl+c to get more of the same (as in image). nothing else works.
I don't know then
don't worry about it. i probably put iso onto that stick in a way i shouldn't have.
👍
