I use Steam with lot of games on an external drive and it kicks both of my USB drives off and I have to unplug them to see them or remount them. I Only saw stuff online for this about issues with ntfs drives this is an ext4 drive. Is anyone else suddenly having this issue? What's the best PPA or way to get some newer externals with mint?

Oh Thanks, dose that apply to non flatpack steam as well?
yes and use flatseal
flatseal? I'm not familier with that?

How do I fix the mount point part?

Thanks, Also what do I set in flatseal?
drive locations which you want a given flatpak application permission to access
Oh I see case sandboxed.
I did everything still have the issue.
Now it won't connect even after replugging.
What kernel paa is recommended I want to see if kernels are then issue.
open the Disks application. it will show all drives, mounted or not

maybe it's the ports . try other ports far away
they only fail when doing io heavy stuff I don't think it's the ports.
and more then one usb drive is connected on diff ports both fail at same exact time (steams only useing 1)
check kernel and bios date. inxi -SM in terminal
and see this if u want to try other kernel
I went from rtx 4070 to rx 7900 xt a day ago idk if that broke it or update (i purged all nv stuff).
if by 'fail' you mean file operations return errors way too often then they are failing drives and should be replaced
what does dmesg -l warn+ say?
unfortunately drives can die out of nowhere
are the drives encrypted?
Not the steam drive main drive is. But when drive got kicked other usb drive got kicked with it (not steam drive only one of the two is). Dose that make sense?
