#refresh rate capped

its an issue with x11, its complicated but in short x11 doesnt allow for advanced refresh rate configurations, because its much older and wasnt designed with that in mind
wait for mint 23 if youre using cinnamon, or if you want a faster solution, use a different distro (like fedora, for example)
the solution to x11 is to use a desktop environment with wayland instead (like kde plasma, or gnome)
when is mint 23 releasing?
at the moment im just making do by unplugging my second monitor when i play games
probably some time in july or august
I have my monitor running at 170 hz and tv at 144 hz without issue. If you try to mirror them though you'll be stuck with 60 hz due to your secondary monitor (it can't mirror to different refresh rates), so make sure you have it set to "Join Displays".
Many will claim it's not possible on x11 to have different refreshrates, it actually is.
But only requires some elbow grease.
Sadly x11 picks your lowest refresh rate and applies this to all monitors.
Give this topic a look:

I rock a nvidia 3060ti with 3 monitors, all 3 different refresh rates.
144,165,60 it required a startupscript mentioned in there to be able to enjoy 165, and 144 to it's fullest.
I got the same issue
I’ll give that a go
this guide isnt applicable unfortunatelty i have an AMD gpu
hmm this is what i was already doing
ill just have to wait for the new mint version to come out
hmm... I might actually switch to mint on my DESKTOP, for real this time
thank goodness I have an Nvidia gpu
if I can't get this to work I'm going to endeavour 🥲
wow it works!
All this crap doesn't make sense, so long as you're not mirroring the displays the refresh rates will be independent. Hope that makes sense.
Darji has two posts, yeah I dunno what this is all about but go generate clicks and likes somewhere else.
I'm so sick and tired of people talking to themselves via different accounts in the Mint community, get a life.
@pale owl you specifically, go to hell
???
Older is my only account on the forum, an seeing the OP really put work in this tutorial i thanked the post
Not sure what you're on about but something with double accounts in this discord? Not the case. Get your facts straight before random accusing
If this was the case, the forum and this discord wouldn't be full of "refresh rate issues with multimonitor".
why is this guy so grumpy
im just trying to troubleshoot an issue with my monitor and bro is having a meltdown
Anyone here got fusion360 working on linux mint. I tried installing using bottles but no luck. feel like I am just missing something since friend of mine got it working on his ubuntu
I would rather make the effort to make it work on linux than crawl back microslop.
Give Heroic Launcher a try, when pointing to a windows installer it'll auto create a proton prefix with the necessary dependencies
