so to recap, i know literally NOTHING about code or anything like that, today is the first time i've ever used linux, i set up my rtx 5070 with the 590 open driver (what i was told to use by a friend) and had severe issues with linux thinking my gpu doesnt exist and its causing issues, system monitor has nothing for gpu in resources (no clue if thats normal or not), steam is invisible for some reason???, and sober crashes INSTANTLY upon startup with the same error every time "Sober couldn't find a supported graphics device.", i tried switching graphics drivers to 570 open (again a suggestion from my friend) to no avail, following tutorials, reading reddit threads from the mesozoic era, copy and pasting a bunch of different kinds of commands into the terminal, nothing has worked, and ive been trying to fix it for about 3 hours now
- got linux mint cinnamon
- set everything up and changed my driver to 590 open in the driver manager from the welcome page before doing other trivial setup
- downloaded discord, works fine
- downloaded steam, worked fine at first and then glitched out horribly to where it is now, i have no idea how
- downloaded sober, never worked once, not even a single time, always the same error message specified above
(the "blank" image is with steam open and maximized...)
edit: i found a temporary fix, if i put steam in big picture mode and then take it out it fixes the issue until i close steam, but that's only one of 3 issues
