Hi there

I've just installed linux mint on my hp prodesk mini with an ryzen 5 2400GE.
I've ran through the installation just normal and when i tried to reboot it just gives me an black screen.
i did run it in nomodeset and it went to the desktop just normal, so i'm guessing it's an driver issue.
i dit update all packages in the hope it just works, but sadly nothing. how do i fix this?

If you can get to the desktop with nomodeset, open the terminal and type

inxi -Gxxx ; mokutil --sb-state

and show the result

6.17.0-14-generic

Did you set nomodeset it grub menu?

frosty belfry
#

i did, otherwise i won't end up in the desktop envoirment

zealous tide
#

Ok, this time try amdgpu.dc=0 instead of nomodeset

When 6.8 is installed, in the grub menu go to advanced options and select entry with kernel 6.8 (regular, not recovery)

frosty belfry
#

guess i have to troubleshoot a bit more as 6.8 is also showing me an black screen

zealous tide
#

Hmm.... on the 6.8 entry press e and use amdgpu.dc=0 parameter

cedar aspen
#

@silk basalt I encounter this

silk basalt
#

im not sure why it does that

#

u can disable the check by adding some boot parameter

#

better make separat thread if u cant get past it

cedar aspen
frosty belfry
#

now it's just stuck on the linux mint logo

zealous tide
#

Remove words "quiet splash" and try again with 6.8 and amdgpu.dc=0

frosty belfry
#

now it's stuck here

zealous tide
#

wait a bit

frosty belfry
#

i think it's stuck

zealous tide
#

Ok.... next we try

amdgpu.dc=0 loglevel=7 rd.systemd.show_status=auto

without quiet splash

frosty belfry
#

It's stuck here now

#
