#Can't resize partition on Gparted
51 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
the sign 'key' means the partition can not be altered (resized, formatted, deleted, etc.) because the system booted from there (or it needs it otherwise).
when you boot from another device (for example an usb stick prepared with ventoy or rufus) the key symbol for the device /dev/nvme0n1 will be gone (=unlocked) and you will be able to resize its partition #2.
Well shit
Do I install that through the terminal or is that something else?
if u have your Mint install usb, just use that
otherwise, download gparted-live from gparted.org, and make a bootable USB with image writer and that ISO
Okay I got balena and the iso
So I boot it the same way as I did for linux mint?
yes
supposed to boot to graphical desktop
you must choose the option for X (graphical environment) during live bootup process
any news on this, @rich creek ?
Sorry it's going to take me a while to get on my laptop again
I'll try to notify you when I get to it
alright
Alright sorry I just got back on it
So in the first menu, i just choose default settings
And I chose option 0 but I'm still stuck on this screen
Okay, I'm going with the third first
At least the text isn't tiny anymore lol
OKAY IT WORKS
And resize it?
mhm
carefully
don't move
only resize
watch the bottom of main window it will say operations pending
you'll need to resize nvme0n1p2. in the "space following" field, put what you want in binary megabytes (MiB)
and press tab key
eg: for 400 GiB, put (1024x400) MiB
whatever it calculates to
yah . that will equal 461.4 GiB
once you're happy with the size, click the 'resize/move' button, then read the pending jobs at bottom, and if you're fine with it, click the checkmark in toolbar to apply
you can also use the Undo button before hitting Apply
Alright I'm going to do that now, hopefully it'll be enough for windows
Thank you so much btw 🩷
you're welcome. Did it work?
it should have been fairly quick since this is an nvme SSD
Yes it did
