@haughty timber Just to be clear, you're on LMDE 7 and not Mint 22.x? Also, what GPU do you have?

I am using a RTX 3070 Mobile GPU

Right, how did you install the propriatery driver on your LMDE installation?

I installed it from the terminal essentially, but truthfully idk if that was the right call

And you want the open driver with a 3000 series card

#

You can skip any step that has to do with apt components or sources, as that's already sorted in LMDE. For gaming purposes, you might want to try out Trixie backports, but make system snapshot with Timeshift before attempting that.

Alrighty thank you

If you follow the Debian Wiki instructions and end up looking at text-only login, don't worry, it is easily fixed, so I'll help you. My RTX 3080 is running great on LMDE.

#

If you want to go with Trixie backports, for newer kernel etc (now it's 6.18.5), there is a complete guide for that in there, with no need for looking at anything else in that Wiki page, as it is complete in itself.

#

LMDE also comes ready for backports out of the box, so all you have to do is type the commands.
