#help getting paint.NET on linux

WineHQ showcases version 5.0 to be garbage
I personally use Photopea on LM
everything else is frustrating to use
i just want somthing simple and easy to understand
how good are your Linux skills
because I can't see any other option than to use Windows virtualization with GPU passhtrough when you want Windows applications
on Linux that need that graphical acceleration
so yes it's possible, through virtualization, but running without good acceleration it's going to be a pita
www.kleki.com is as easy as it gets. with layer support
also seen ppl here try for weeks to get what u want running thru wine and still failed .
otherwise see YT someordinarygamers for thorough vid on Winboat and how to use it to run Windows apps.
Winboat doesn't offer Full GPU Acceleration (although they're working on it but still in testing)
so likely same experience as running in virtualbox, but I wouldn't want to use it with a tablet for instance
still I would recommend Photopea which just runs in the browser and is very easy to understand coming from Paint.net and PS
if your hardware is decent, meaning even low range dedicated GPU (and browser is GPU acclerated), you can get by
I applaud your efforts
took me under 7 minutes
oh, and to mention for simple-ass editing, use kolourpaint, a native linux app in the repositories
or pinta
or the included Pix app for basic red-eye, crop, resize, flip on photos
as far as I'm concerned, the ONLY way to make paint.net work is Winboat or a dedicated gnome-boxes Windows VM.
10 min doodle in Pinta
it doesn't support transparency though or any brush options like blurring etc
Photopea has more features, so for a bit of extra styling I would opt for Photopea
the good thing about that is, that if you get better at it, the features will be there just like PS
is there a line tool
pinta sucks at per pixel manipulation
i hate it
yes. you can see i drew a line
GIMP needs a weeks/months-long PhD anyway
I had a look at paint.net demos. It looks nice, though has advanced stuff too, like filters etc
is it really that hard
you've never used it?
only photo editing program i've ever used
let's just say I can do simple-ass stuff in kolourpaint in 1 minute, which takes 30 minutes to figure out on GIMP
literally had me YELLING at the screen. Despite me trying to make an honest effort to attempt to learn it.
Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time we take a look at a new development that makes that eventual switch to Linux even easier. Winboat is a tool that now easily let's you run your Windows programs underneath Linux in a way that makes it almost seamless. How do you do this? Let's find out! Thanks for watching!

and no, you don't have to have winboat autostart on login, to save CPU cycles and RAM. Use only when needed.
I've used Photoshop since the Mac OS 9 days (CS2 and InDesign), well familiar with several photo editing tools (graphics designer at one point) and find Photopea to be very simple to use compared to the real PS.
if you ever want to use real photoshop then it's def the goto and worth it to learn
I've heard photopea is downloadable as an app. Is this even true , and even for linux? and is such downloadable app needing money?
it will download it as a chrome app, it's entirely browser based (WebGL)
and free version is with ads but obviously you can disable them 🙂
Winboat allows you to run Windows apps on Linux with seamless integration! It does this by running Windows in a container and using it to run the apps. Therefore, if it runs on Windows, it can run on Linux via WinBoat.
