Got an old laptop to mess around with Mint. Would love to move to the SO but I cannot make some programs to work. Right now I cannot use EonTimer even tho there is an ubuntu distro (I get an error saying that no qt dependencies were found. The only one I could install was xcb but still getting the same error). I cannot make the DualSense controller to work on Steam via bluetooth (it works wired. on bluetooth steam does not recognize it. steam-devices is installed). I rely on steam to run RNG Reporter.exe and Livesplit.exe with proton but I would like to know if it is possible to do it with Wine or similar. Also having issues installing Wine.

Just got my dualsense to work: pair your controller, set it to "trust" in bluetooth settings, turn controller off and on again - mint will pop a notification about a pair request. Accept that and steam will see it now blobnoice

As for wine - I havent used the bare version of it but there is a Bottles app which makes it more user friendly to run apps (you can even doubleclick exe from anywhere). Would love anyone else with more knowledge confirm if its a good alternative

#

as for EONTimer - got that running by installing dependency with apt install libxcb-cursor0. No extra stuff was needed excitedpepe

Question to the helpers with more knowledge - why was it available on apt but not on Software Manager? I thought it calls the same stuff under the hood?

And if you want to try native alternatives for RNG Reporter.exe and Livesplit.exe:
Noticed that RNG Reporter is has stopped development 8 years ago and is superseded with https://github.com/Admiral-Fish/PokeFinder which is multiplatform
Livesplit has some alternative as well, not sure how stable it is in comparison https://github.com/LiveSplit/LiveSplitOne

A version of LiveSplit that works on a lot of platforms. - LiveSplit/LiveSplitOne

@tame ferry what issues with wine were you having btw?

wow!!! I'll check all this later. My issues with wine is that I just couldn't properly install it to be able to have it available as "open with Wine". I know it is possible because at work we use a Debian distro that allows it. Anyway I'll try the alternatives offered and I'll share whatever happens 😂

#

Also I think LiveSplitOne was a browser version of the program. On src they recommend using the proton option via steam

Bottles also working fine! I tried it with RNG Reporter. How can I create a double click shortcut?

I am actually in tears now thank you so much this is like the fourth time I try Mint and you solved ALL MY ISSUES in one post

lunar crane

i did not create any shortcut, just had downloaded exe in the downloads folder and opened it with Bottles

Only thing to point out is that I would love to make the Dualsense to be off instead of glowing. On windows I could do that with the steam advanced settings but it looks like it is not working on Mint

there is probably way more solutions to create shorcuts, havent tried more

On LED Settings

#

Ok funny. After a while they just applied 😂

works on mine, perhaps just a steam restart would solve it

#

ohhh nice!!!

tame ferry

It looks like closing and reopening maybe did the thing? I'm not too sure

#

But wooooow this is amazing I'm actually moving to this right now on the main laptop. TYSM AGAIN

Ok I just got the R one to work no idea how, now to the L 😂 😂

#

So it looks like I had to press "Pair" in between. Hope a more efficient person could explain. Sorry for the ping D:
