and I also saw in my bios I was able to switch my boot to this random usb I had a while ago that wasnt plugged in and when I went to it it was windows from a long time ago with a old background and user and everything it was so weird and its giving me issues
Many issues after installing linux mint foR the first time
do efibootmgr from terminal and show
okay
sudo efibootmgr -b 0000 -B to get rid of old windows entry
then show result of inxi -SMGxxx please
do mokutil --sb
u can unmaximize the terminal
if secure boot shows as on, disable it
ok how do I disable
done from the BIOS
.
ok
Got what I said?
Yeah
ok cool let me see
if it does, there's another fix
Yeah I dont see the tear anymore thank u
but its still like choppy when ever I scroll on things
like on discord and firefox
and I also have a 200hz monitor and it only allows me to do 165hz on linux
thank you for fixing my screen tear
see what inxi -Gxxx shows.
how many monitors are listed? what refresh rates in Hz are shown?
it's at 60
see if u can adjust it in Display settings to the refresh rate you want.
and if stuff looks too small on 1080,
change res. to 1366 x 768 or 1280x800 or 1280x720 or 1440x900
ok thank u
now what were u talking about regarding certain Windows files?
there is this thing called 1.0 tb volume and its got windows stuff on it
and when I went into bios to change my boot I saw this thing called smth like sandisk usb which was the name of a old usb I used that I dont anymore and it had a older save of windows 11 loaded on it
yeah I just want it gone
u want the drive fresh formatted and usable for linux ?
yeah theres some stuff but I dont care for it
open the app named Disks please
then click the 1 TB drive on the left of it, and show (using windowed screenshots, not maximize)
stuff with stars is linux
click partition 3
then the stop icon
it'll show a solid square icon like on any cd player
I see
have u stopped the mounted partition?
click the white square
that's the stop icon
yes now I have
go to the dots menu up top
'format drive'
dont overwrite, just quick erase ok
and msdos or gpt table is fine
is that good?
ok cool
how do I now just completely get rid of it
cus I dont use that usb
click the plus icon, name it, give it whole size, for type choose 'other' and then BTRFS
disable the drive?
if u dont click it in file manager, then it wont mount and stay dormant
okay so Its like dormant rn?
yes
okay
u'll notice there's no "play" icon INSIDE of it in the Disks app
and u will notice there's no 'eject' icon beside it in the file manager
both mean it's not mounted
oh okay cool
thanks
oh btw when I want to scroll with my middle mouse button it pastes a bunch of words I typed earlier
any way to just make it scroll cus what I would to is hold the middle mouse button and drag and that would just let me scroll up and down but its doing this paste thing
oh and there is this text at the top of firefox saying what page and stuff im on and its really in the way cus I would just move my cursor all the way to the top where my create new tab button would be and now I cant do that anymore because of this weird title on the top. Anyway to disable it?
Most apps in linux dont support autoscroll. (except browsers)
Oh okay owell thanks for telling me
enable autoscroll in Firefox (or its clones) in its own settings
or use a third-party autoscroll extension on other browsers
yeah
right-click outside of the address bar to customize
then disable the system titlebar in the bottom left area tickbox
yes. look where I said
thank you

one last thing
when ever I reset or turn of my pc it has this menu
ill send a video
the suspend restart shutdown logout one?
that's on start
do sudo xed /etc/default/grub
put style to HIDDEN
timeout to 0
read top of file and do
this is what I got
no
I entered this
close those
copy and PASTE this: sudo xed /etc/default/grub
middle mouse button paste
whats sudo update-grub
like thats in that text thingy
or do I type that in terminal
terminal
