Heyo, so Iām new to Linuxās OS but have been excited to get into it and learn it, issue is whenever I try to boot off my USB I run into the issue in the image below. Iām not sure whatās causing this as everywhere Iāve looked up the issue people say itās an issue with the ISO however I have switched Isos 5 times, checking each of their sha256 and verified they were legit so Iām just confused what to do at this point. Any help is appreciated š

If you used BalenaEtcher, trash that program and use Rufus
I used Ventoy
ensure you're booting uefi-mode if this is a fairly modern machine
you'll know by seeing UEFI written in the lower left corner of the first ventoy white screen
also verify the ISO from the 2nd white ventoy screen and ENSURE A MATCH . sha256
And how do I ensure the sha256 match from the Ventoy screen?
.
Yeah thatās my bad, didnāt read right checking now

Well as I had said at the top, I had already checked the sha256 before I had checked it from the 7zip
if checksum matches, and still no live boot, it may be the graphics card
But doesnāt hurt to double check
better to verify on the flash cells
100%
(Sheās taking a bit to calculate give it a second haha)
Looks like itās the matching sha256 if Iām not incorrect
if u compared to official one then press enter if they matched
try compatibility mode š
Okay š
Maybe itās the graphics card? I can give you which one I have if need be
list it
OR AH SHIT
I have an idea of what it may be
My CPU has built in graphics thatās different from my actual graphics card and I was running into an issue before where it would read the built in graphics as default instead of the graphics card
Lemme list both out to ya
Okay so
my CPU (with those built in graphics that may be causing some issues) is the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
My GPU (The actual card I have) is the AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT
AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT was released on May 10, 2022
this should be fine
and not need compat. mode at all., neither for the iGPU
however, you can try disabling onboard graphics from within the advanced BIOS settings as a trial.
Maybe
Letās see if I can even remember how to do that š
I did remember how, disabled the iGPU
Okay booting her up
If it was these integrated graphics giving me troubles again Iām gonna crash out lolol/j
they shouldn't anyway
ok give it the full 2.25 minutes
Yes sir š«”
for live boot to reach desktop
3 minutes later and the error is still at the top
welp, i guess that's that then
Yeahhh š¬
try linuxmint debian edition 7
it's still cinnamon
different package base, but prett much same software and everything
Gotcha, hereās hoping, Iāll update you when I try to live boot it
Alrighty sheās starting up
@bleak cosmos
I appreciate all the help! :0
Oou actually, new issue has cropped up, I was clicking around, making sure I liked the operating system, immediately love it and Iāve looked into Linux Mint a lot so Iām pretty sure itās for me soooo I clicked the Install Linux Mint icon
Annnd nothing is occurring, everything else is functioning, can click up Firefox, mess with my clock a bit all that jazz, everything else works except that install button
it's running off of a usb stick afterall
Yāknow what, fair point š
Still nothing and I donāt even get the spinning loading wheel on the cursor
Tried opening it from the menu too, no loading wheel, no signs that anything is opening
And I understand it takes a while because itās running off a USB but 20 minutes seems like at that point thereās an issue
open up the start menu, type in Disks and then see if a) your main drive(s) show up
b) if you have too many internal drives, this may lead to an issue
good
open a terminal next to the desktop installer launcher, and drag it onto the terminal n press enter
oh right
right click the desktop launcher
what's it say precisely in the Command field for Properties?
copy and paste that into the terminal. with the space where it belongs not as u wrote above
press enter for password since this is live mode
never seen that error. is the usb still fully inserted? was it ever disturbed?
Still inserted, havenāt touched it
as per method shown here.
Gotcha, doing that!
if it matches, just try booting live again, and don't disturb the usb stick physically at all. the installer should launch.
Alright, calculating the sum now, thank you again for putting up with my computer being a clunker lolol
Matches Iāll try live booting again
Ahh, not even a loading wheel again
And same Bus Error when taking above steps
weird. can u post your specs here. do inxi -Fxz from terminal and send photo of full result, maximize terminal.
the part on drives is a bit troubling
show pic of DISKS app with the SSD chosen.. landscape mode
no need to maximize the Disks window plz
you may have to research what iRST or RST is.
then follow:
#1357354361562337392 message <Disable RST without trashing Windows for dualboot (or even single boot install)
Following these steps Iām struggling to find where to disable RST
i'd give my advice on this cuz I had a similar issue (gpumanager was fucking everything up) but my solution was to go nuclear and wipe my SSD so that's probably not a viable option for you.
Okay update, correct me if this is wrong, this is new to me, there are two modes from my ASROCK BIOS, RAID and AHCI mode, from what Iām seeing RAID has RST enabled and AHCI does not, however, my computer has been running in AHCI mode this whole time
Honestly, Iām wiping this SSD clean anyways, Iām completely getting rid of Windows if I can haha
Oh, then that's totally an option.
Put Ventoy (if you know what that is) on the USB, put Mint in Ventoy, wipe the disk (make a backup!), then boot mint from the USB.
To wipe the disk I had to put a windows disk on Ventoy, and use it to format every partition.
I should probs change the name of this channel because we got LMDE7 to boot up but now the issue is Mintās installer just not working
Oh, you got LMDE7 to boot? Not the same issue as me, then.
Sadly, I appreciate the attempt to help tho!
I was having trouble getting any Linux installation to work. Arch, Ubuntu, Nix, nothing.
I wish you good luck on your quest!
Thank you, totally not Papyrus
^^^ The update btw, Stunner
Installing Linux Mint icon does not work.
it's not RST then, since drive's partitions are clearly revealed
don't wipe your main drive btw
Okie
yes, leave it in AHCI mode always
niice
And in this installation process Iām okay to install it to my SSD disk and remove everything from it or is there any reason I shouldnāt yet?
if u tested network works, and sound and video, sure
Letās go! Windows is gone! Teeheee
you fully installed and it works now LMDE 6?
if so, then see #1295728709306683482 INDEX, sections 3-5 for good usage
Yup! Looking good :3
