fresh install?
if u had to use compat. mode that already tells you hell awaits you in time.
yes it is
are you using Ancient nvidia cards or extraordinarily new AMD/NVIDIA card?
rx9060xt
so i cant use mint?
check the threads here for that model. pretty sure they all say no or pure hell awaits you.
If it's really the gpu, wouldn't nomodeset get him in?
shrugs
wait
@final dew can you get to the grub menu?
you're in where?
recov. mode is read-only .
you could try the nomodeset boot as maniak mentioned, and then find out precisely how to install the mainline kernel and reboot to it, and pray it works and runs stably
in cinnamon de
see #1429152383018991697 message Disregard that it says nvidia.
See if you can get to the terminal and type
inxi -SGxxx
and show us the result
it's read-only in recov. mode
recovery mode doesn't get you to desktop, it gets you to root shell at best
i've seen it go into desktop in one other case. couldnt update or install anything.
thus ...
Then, @final dew should report errors about read only stuff
it's installing SOME packages like 0.1 mb/s
Open up another terminal and type
inxi -Nnxxx
done
show the end of it please
I closed that terminal
the last lines was grubmkconfig
run
sudo apt update
and show the result
ok, restart normally, when you see mint logo press esc once
See if you can get to grub menu, select mint 22 and press e
.
do as it says there for safeboot.
done
I'm in cinnamon de, and I guess i don't have GPU driver because I cant change refresh rate and resolution
yep
so now u gotta figure to get the Mainline kernel. www.kernel.org
if u wanna go thru all that
I guess no
also open Update Manager, click its VIEW menu
check in there, linux kernels, see if there's 6.17 or higher than 6.14 series at all
it says 'your system is up to date'
it's like 1-2 years old but have new GPU like 1 month ago
ah and u updated teh BIOS a month ago, i see
yeah
