#Getting rid of extra bars on a lot of windows
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
what you refer to as "shit" has been a vital part of windows and Windows , for 40 damn years.
what I'm referring to as shit is having duplicate bars
example firefox has a setting to turn it off
this is nice no need for another bar telling me FIREFOX with x on it
that nemo has anothe rbar on top of an already existing nav bar
it's a collosal waste of space
no need to waste another bar saying HOME
it's a titlebar. its function is to be able to doubleclick on to maximize/restore, OR to be able to drag from, in order to move a window
which you can do from the sencond line
and there's another on top for no reason
other than to waste space
I found cinnamon maximus but it doesn't work sadly
may need to restart cinnamon or logout
fair point I didn't try that
shit
if it wasn't obvious enough what I mean
red=wasted area
yellow=already acts as a titlebar just need to move the x down
hold on was too busy with time one sec
any idea how to reset cinnamon via terminal or do I have to restart
oh
alt f2 type r and enter
cool also no it didn't work
I'll try a restart
nope
I mean I get discord being fkn gay but at least nemo shouldn't have this bar
it's by design
GNOME desktop completely removes these title bars, if you want.
it's mostly hated because of that xD
for discord, I've heard Vesktop app has an option to disable the titlebar
nvm
figured what vesktop is
and mint uses cinnamon that's a fork of gnome or smth like that
either way cinnamon should have an option to remove the titlebar at least from nemo
this is stupid
red -> OS/WM can control that, if the program just allows it.
yellow -> completely in control of the program, if they use it as a thing to click on and move windows, cool, but every program has to support that, else a user would not have a way to control a windows, move it, etc.
from my understanding, so unrealistic expectation.
considering it's the default file manager I think it's perfectly realistic for it to not waste space.
like discord ok the disc devs are gay and don't properly implement it
