#Installing using dvd
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
do you have MS Windows, and if so, what version?
I am using windows 10 enterprise at the moment
see if it comes with any cd/dvd tools?
or get nero (express) https://pcai.nero.com/nero-express
Ok and what am I supposed to burn
Like the entire thing?
Orrr?
Ok
same as what Maniak said. see features link i just sent
Ok
"create bootable discs" is listed
i knew mid-2000s nero express used to but idk now so use cdburnerxp
Ok
just make sure to use the right option
for iso, not as "data"
an ISO is a international standards DISK IMAGE
Ok
Open the program and send screenshots ) should be fairly easy though
Yea I'll do that later
Thx a lot
also please rename the title of this post to *Installing using a DVD"
Download means getting a file from the internet or from a camera to another computer
Install means putting a program/OS into permanent commission
Ok
So, any progress with this, @turbid pike ?
Oh
No it's midnight
I'm not on my laptop
Ill try in about
9 hours
If I don't fall asleep during the day again
i would choose "verify" after burn
k
just to be absolutely sure it wrote with no missed-bits/ errors.
will take an extra 15 minutes i think, but better than 1 hour of going crazy
should be fine the defaults
right on
if ur pc is made in last 10 years, make sure to press BOOT MENU key, and choose UEFI CD/DVD to boot
not plain one
@turbid pike
i think from cd, take about 10 minutes to boot to a deskktop. then u can play around and test it very well, LIVE
I just had the CD in and restarted the laptop
Then it said something about "unclean file" 9r something
ur boot menu key should be shown to u when u power-on. look close at bottom of screen
K
eg: "press F9 for boot options"
if it ONLY shows "Press xx to enter Setup/BIOS" then i guess do that and show a photo of bios in the boot options section
Ok I just saw something flash with like f2
But now I'm here where I was when I do nothin
And it's frozen like this
Idk
Looking here it said that the laptop came with windows 7
And an intel core i5
Idk how old the laptop is so uh if that helps
give it time anyway. it always appears frozen after that timer counts down
when you reach desktop, open terminal, and maximize it. then u can send some info on the system and I can offer recommendations.
Ok now I can try it
Oh ok
type inxi -F in maximized terminal, and show clear picture.
scroll to top of results if it doesnt fit in one screen
and show two photos of full result, IF needed
Lol
and you have 8 GB RAM. way plenty. even 4 wold be fine for this
go to Keyboard (search in start menu)
and go to its settings module, and third tab. u can change language layout
or model i think
or go to regional in System Settings
because for me, z is what is physically near bottom, above left Alt
if u install, after you are done playing around, just use a few numbers (digits) from numeric row as your password
and dont make it too hard.
K
u should test sound n connectivity first
I can make it as hard as I want
I write my passwords down in a book
Huh
yes but use digits in case stupid letters/ keyboard mismatch screws you
K
the installer asks you to pick region and keyboard layout anyway and I believe it offers a TEST AREA to test letters
Ye
hey
I just remembered something important
what are you doing right now?
You need to follow this method if you want to install: #1296130276514332742 message
@turbid pike
Uh setting up a few things
follow that guide link, or else standard install will fail
(fail to boot anyway :P)
Uh I am in Linux rn
It installed just fine
oh it booted?
Yea I even installed discord already
I have a problem with steam rn tho
Huh?
You mean that setting up stuff?
yeah u got the welcome app show up ?
Ye
oh ok
congrats.
