#Microphone input sounding HORRIBLE

I installed Linux Mint 22.2 without much issues; audio, bluetooth, and camera worked fine, when I tested my microphone and had this high pitch ringing that made it hard to hear me.

open alsamixer in terminal and press F6 to choose the soundcard (or usb soundcard, whatever your mic is) , maximize the terminal window

then turn the mic boost column to zero or damn-near zero

use sound recorder app in software manager to test.

install it if u dont have it

then ensure in its config tab, that the hdmi profiles are put to OFF

#

put the intel builtin audio to analog stereo DUPLEX

press record in sound recorder, then go to the 'recording' tab of pavu, and ensure it's capturing the built-in audio, not monitor-of builtin

and ensure no mute switches are on the mic hardware
