#Sound saturated

Hi everyone!
I'm French and I don't really understand English very well, so sorry if my message isn’t clear.
I just installed Linux Mint 22.2 Cinamon 6.4.8 (6.14.0-33-generic) and I’m totally new to Linux.
Right now, I have a big problem with the sound — it sounds really bad and distorted, like it’s saturated.
On Windows, everything was working perfectly.

My laptop is an ASUS W751LX.
Does anyone know how I could fix this sound issue?

Thanks a lot for your help!

#

sudo apt install pavucontrol

static drift
#

Already done !

empty shell
#

btw did u install any updates the Update Manager suggested right after installing Linux Mint?

static drift
#

Yes I did

empty shell
#

ok.

#

well open up pavucontrol, and show a pic of the Configuration tab

static drift
#

empty shell

static drift

static drift
empty shell
#

#

static drift
#

Stereo analogic IN - Stereo analogic out - Stereo analogic duplex - Pro audi - Off

empty shell
#

try pro audio

#

#

are you using the 3.5mm cords going to amplifier?

#

@static drift

static drift
#

Nothing changes. No amplifier, just sound from the computer

empty shell
#

test with headphones

static drift
#

already done and the sound is the same

empty shell
#

or headphone/line-out jack to amplifier with speakers

static drift
#

I think this is not a material problem. Work well on windows yesterday

empty shell
#

on the Output tab of pavucontrol, ensure the volume slider is at 100, or not more than 115%

static drift
empty shell
#

also, when u play a song, go to the PLAYBACK tab of pavucontrol, and find the application making the song play, and make its slider also 100% or less

static drift
#

Still awful 😅

empty shell
#

install easyeffects

#

see if you can turn down any pre-amplification or boost from there

#

or any equalizer, that you can lower down to clean up

#

from what I read of your post, the sound is overdriven and distorted

static drift
#

already tried this too 🥲

empty shell
#

have you tried to boot the Mint live USB and test the sound from the live desktop?

static drift
#

Nope

empty shell
#

do it.

#

if the issue is there, then that means it was there from the very very start.

static drift
#

Ok I'll try

static drift
empty shell
#

ok

static drift
#

Maybe a driver issue ?

The Asus X751LX is a
17.3-inch laptop from around 2015 that features a 5th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M graphics card, and 8GB of RAM.

#

idk if this is all true for you

static drift
#

Seems to be right
