#putting computer into sleep mode corrupted my os..?
115 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
the screen looked like this
it has done this glitchyness before after sleep mode, but it didnt do this before, and noone could help me figure it out
gpu seems to be completely fine, launching it on the other ssd for windows grants no issues
i launched minecraft to put load on it
I was using kubuntu as my distro
after figured out how to exit busybox this appears
probably some dumb video drivers and the messing around
retrace your steps
if you're dualbooting with Windows, make sure win fast startup is off. do not confuse this with Bios fast boot
where do i check that
also does dualbooting count as having two seperate ssds
ive got one with windows one with linux
and how i swap between them is by changing the boot order in bios
yes dualdrive still can be affected
in windows do powercfg /a to check
if it's available, then use admin prompt and : powercfg /h off
google the boot menu key if u dont know it
recheck with powercfg /a
wait
kk
legacy
boot Mint if possible
no just try ur actual mint install
if it's trashed then reinstall, and boot the installer in legacy
kubuntu in any case
sure
btw did u figure out your boot menu key?
wdym, like to change boot order of my harddrives?
pc brand?
do that immediately
yes your pc brand
if u dont know then check in Windows using CPU-Z app for the motherboard brand
is the boot menu where it says memtedt86
no
ive got msi motherboard amd gpu and cpu. idk what you were referring too
msi boot key is F11
press F11 immediately after turning the pc on.. within one second..
and show photograph
windows is on CT500?
yer
u can see there's no "uefi" in front of them
but for the yellow one there IS a UEFI name of loader. (in this case 'ubuntu'
both OS should be installed in same mode
or else u always have to use this key
u will never have grub option
anyway, reinstall kubuntu
like wipe my drive?
see this picture. and boot the kubuntu USB like the red x way shown
which will boot legacy and install linux as legacy
how will i know my pc wont just corrupt again after wiping
well what choice have u got at this point?
u will make timeshift snapshot as soon as u reach a good working installation
and be careful with what you do thereafter
ill probably install something other than kubuntu, since it seems pretty unstable
if ever needing to restore the snapshot, u can boot live ISO, and run timeshift restore
then try Feren OS
i've used it before. it's KDE and familiar like kubuntu
same software family
ill check it out
ive got a few spares
@flat rivet does your pc use nvidia graphics?
amd
just checking.
could've just booted a live ISO and done the same thing
the live session of what?
i still had the live boot of kubuntu that i installed from
mhm.
trying to open the kubuntu ssd from it gave me the error superblock couldnt be accessed or smth
in such case, the DISKS app has a check/repair filesystem that can be applied to the questionable partition
that or the sudo fsck /dev/xxx command
ill do that after i back up the things i want
xxx being something like sdb2 for example
yeah its /dev/sdb2
wherever the linux root is residing
