Show the full command result

#

also do sudo apt install pavucontrol gnome-sound-recorder

#

can then do a test to see if it picks up internal monitor of audio. I'll show you that after you provide the inxi -Fxxxz and got the two apps above installed.

#

Ok, open Sound Recorder first.

#

once it's open, launch Pulse Audio Volume Control from the start menu, and position it beside it

#

stretch pavucontrol so you see all 5 of its tabs.

acoustic salmon
#

done

fathom girder
#

go to the Configuration tab. put all profiles to OFF except the AMD Family 17h/19h one

#

that one should be on Analog stereo Duplex

#

then go to the Recording tab.

#

click the dropdown, and choose "Monitor of built-in audio"

#

then play a song in another app, and press Record in Sound Recorder. see if it show waveform activity

#

stop it after a short while, and see if it produced an audible recording.

@fathom girder

fathom girder
#

sorry, i meant the "Recording" tab, @acoustic salmon

acoustic salmon
fathom girder
#

gotta have the recorder open

fathom girder
acoustic salmon
#

like this?

fathom girder
#

yes. click the blue record button

#

then check record tab

#

it should show the option/dropdown i said

acoustic salmon
#

works

fathom girder
#

ok repeat the test. but in the recording tab, dont use monitor-of

#

just "built-in audio"

#

and speak clearly .

acoustic salmon
#

not working

fathom girder
#

Fail.

#

check config tab

#

it's on analog duplex?

acoustic salmon
fathom girder
#

yeah nothing else i can think of sorry

#

get a cheap usb mic

acoustic salmon
#

but is it normall that sound now from laptop?

fathom girder
#

can you rephrase the question?

acoustic salmon
#

is sound should go from laptop, because all profiles are off except microphone

#

im talking about speakers

#

or it doesn't matter?

fathom girder
#

are you hearing the speakers play when testing with a song?

acoustic salmon
#

yes

fathom girder
#

then leave it

#

as long as its on duplex.

#

u get in and out

#

if you want to use sound over HDMI to a TV set with hdmi, or a hdmi soundbar, then you must turn on that profile.

acoustic salmon
#

ok, but the problem with microphone is cause of new version of mint, or why

#

i was using some distros and all was working fine

fathom girder
#

open "Update Manager", click its "view" menu

#

go to Linux kernels

#

install 6.8

#

then reboot and choose it from the grub menu> Mint advanced options

#

then once booted back test it

#

if mic works, delete 6.14
