sudo apt-get update -- why ubuntu?

New linux user here.
I've just installed Mint, i used this bash command and it started downloading and installing ubuntu packages or something. sudo apt-get update -y && sudo apt-get upgrade -y

did i do something wrong? did i mess up? i just wanted to update linux. maybe i used the wrong command?

is it possible to undo this command? (i did it before i setup timeshift).

maybe i'm just overthinking. thanks!

linux mint is ubuntu with a custom desktop enviroment. all your software comes from ubuntu and ubuntu repositories. the desktop enviroment comes from linux mint directly and packages.linuxmint.com

yes, except most guides for linux are for gnome/kde desktop enviroments, linux mint uses cinnamon so it will look a bit diffrent than most guides on the web

i did know mint was based on ubuntu, but i read in multiple places that mint was faster and leaner, so i went with mint.
