I can't watch any videos people upload in discord. It just stays on the first frame. Also, I can't hear when people join a voice call, or when they start a live stream.

Most of these files are .mov video files, which discord doesn't support on linux.
About the sounds, go to discord settings > Notifications > Check if "Disable all notifications sounds" is disabled, and if "Stream started" and "Activity join user" are enabled.
