anyone know why my youtube video audio suddenly decides to stop working between videos? I've identified that Spotify being open in either a state of playing or not playing can be the trigger where I need to close Spotify, and then close the browser and reopen the browser. Anyone know what causes this? Would like to fix it directly

Did you check the upper left box, near your internet browser address. Is the shield on? Is the lock on/off? It might be that.
I'm using zen does that matter? actually it was across 2 browsers
You are looking to give YT permissions. I'm unsure where it's in Zen browser. Check your address bar for a shield or lock icon. See if turning it on or off fixes it.
That was the case when I had YT videos randomly stop working.
might be DRM related, but I
am thinking it's more a codec issue
see if zen browser has an extension shop.
get the H.264ify extension to force all youtube vids to be sent with that codec only to you (h.264)
installed 🤝 I'll report back here if I run into it again
it happened again today, I don't think the h.264 thing was the issue
I ended up having to actually restart my system in order to get it to work.
Did you try my method? Make sure your security shield in the browser bar corner is allowing YT? That stopped me from getting video issues. If it's only exclusive to YT, that should be the cause.
shoot ill look next time
@lapis cedar doesn't seem like it
ran into it again today, the lock icon says the site is secure, and I don't see any other kinds of "security shield"
that's not zen browser is it
Have you tried other browsers to see if the problem repeats? If so, then it is a Zen problem.
yeah it happened in chrome
but I think I know what the issue is. I went into my sound settings when this happened, and my default devices were getting unset somehow
I'm guessing something I'm doing is causing that to get all screwy
Do you have a specialized sound driver or the default one Mint gave you?
should be the one mint gave me
Do you have specialized speakers?
Do you have the right audio channels? 2.0, not 5.1.
Do you have an AMD GPU?
It's possible you have a driver installed that is deprecated, no loner viable, or a double driver install somewhere.
um, for some reason apparently the sound settings panel is completely messed up? Says I have no devices, despite having two monitors, and bluetooth device connected.
I have an NVIDIA GPU
Ah. Two monitors could be the cause. Do you have audio output from one or both of them? Where are your devices?
In the meantime. Only have one monitor in and see if the problem still occurs.
yeah they both have speakers technically that I've never used
yeah, I don't think that is a viable long term strategy for me
