Hi all and sorry my english is limited and i have small exp in linux. I have a problem. I have installed linux mint cinnamon 22.1 and after installation i did what the message screen means and plugged out the installation stick then enter, then the notebook did a restart but on the screen it shows "no bootable device", but mint is installed.

boot priority hdd is on top in bios
have install the iso on stick using belena etcher
secure boot in bios is off
tpm in bios is off

Acer Notebook Aspire ES1-571
same problem in other Acer notebook

plug your usb stick with LM 22.1 on it in, do a restart and boot from it (press the key for bios boot drive selection right after that... you know already) 🙂
then there is the app 'boot repair' in the start- menu, under 'administration'

Might have to get into BIOS settings and set EFI file as trusted

Garbage like that is becoming more popular in UEFI. My HP needed me to manually change the default OS for UEFI and that was 6 years ago

Hi. Thanks again for helping me with this problem with my Acer Notebook. Now my Mother has same problem with no bootable device. I did all steps i have learned and was successfully with my Acer Notebook, but mother's Acer Notebook has now this screen after "select an uefi file as trusted for executing" after last steps i did in bios then restart and then this screen. * note: i did exactly this what i did with my notebook but on other Acer Notebook this screen. Please help again. Thank you very much

picture 1: what options do you have for boot mode ?
better disable secure boot, too.
ADDED: oh, and save the setting in uefi before leaving it (i know you knew it... just in case).
if the setting falls back to default values, the button cell (cmos) battery is too old and need replacement.

well, i would wait and try the other (2 or 3) things first.
@clever lake if uefi asks you to delete/kill/discard something in TPM and to be really sure about it: say no, please!

Edit: i did it now with no success. I was try all above and still the notebook not boot. Later today i open the laptop and try to change the battery.

they boot in the same way - xfce/mate/cinnamon differ only in the desktop environment (the "look and feel"), as far as i know.

acer products are not very willing to allow linux on them 🙁 well, the first acer laptop allowed it... the second may be not - we will see.

Sorry no RST and no raid. BTW you wrote acer products are not very willing to allow linux on them. So, can you say which notebook manufactur is best for linux and has no problems ? I think about purchase oled notebook for my gf. For now she is team win11. But nobody know what happend in months/years. THANKS
