I am trying to install linux mint (for the first time) on my 2020 intel macbook air. If i plug it in when booted into MacOS a warning comes up saying "The disk you attached was not readable" and when i hold the option key on restart only two options appear: The Macintosh HD and EFI Boot.

#

selecting EFI boot brings up this menu no matter how many times i click update

make the usb with GPT partition table then

#

Rufus and Ventoy both have provision for that

making the usb with the GPT partition table worked and allowed me to boot into the test area of linux mint however my trackpad and keyboard didnt work and until next saturday i dont have the any more adaptors to allow me to plug in a wired keyboard and mouse (which i presume will work?) @quasi cape

oh I see. yeah I guess you'll need a 4-port USB hub

i do have one but when i tried to boot from the usb when it was plugged into the usb hub it didnt work so i will have to get a another usb a to c adaptor
