#issue to run steam on gpu aceleration
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Hi, ric! I suggest downloading Steam from their website. Many have reported better experience with it.
thanks I will try
give me , the same issue the .deb and flatpak version
I'm sorry ric, this is personally beyond me. I don't use Steam not Flatpak at all.
How about you run inxi -Gxxx in your terminal, and send us a screenshot here?
It's with an uppercase G ric
are you using the beta drivers?
does it work with stable?
looks like maybe you're using the proprietary drivers?
try the open source ones
I am using the stables one
It works bad the open
the propryietary drivers usually work better than nouveau.
no, last I checked, the 570 are latest stable. you added the beta drivers PPA.
Weren't able to notice earlier, but I second jak... pretty sure 570 is the latest stable for Ubuntu Noble
I suggest downgrading to that ver... see if things are alright
the problem remains 😦
I discorver something
it could be a X11 issue and not a driver problem
I try on wayland and it works just fine
if that really is the case then I have no idea, sorry
don't worry unless you try to help me and I am grateful , thanks
Strange issue, Have you tried using the 550 drivers?
I used those with my 3080 for a couple years and never had any problems. I upgraded to a 5080 recently and now use the open kernel drivers because the 50 series won't work with the 100% closed proprietary ones, I wish I could use the full proprietary ones because I know i'm losing about 20% of my GPU's max performance by using the open-kernel ones.
I try already that It won't work 😦
I'm pretty sure GPu acceleration only accelerates the GPu performance in the Steam app, like the library and store menus. I'm not sure it helps with in-game performance. I remember when I would enable GPu acceleration on my 3080 in steam that it made previews of games worse and made scrolling through the store a very unpleasant experience. After disabling GPu acceleration and the 'smooth scrolling' option, everything worked like the snap of a dragon.
