i have had the issue all day now ive tried asking multiple people and none have been able to help ive tried reinstalling linux ive uninstalled and reinstalled pipewire and all the other things and nothing worked i checked if my kernel was up to date and if anything was muted and it was all good i would really like to fix this issue due to it being the only issue i have

#

i am unable to hear through my earbuds nor can i on my monitors

steady mantle
#

did the sound EVER work?

#

please send full results from inxi -Fxxxz

loud current
#

Never had an issue outside of voicemeter

#

(Program i used for voice and audio and whatnot in windows)

loud current
steady mantle
#

yep.

#

delete that. try again

loud current
#

how do you want me to send it

#

cuz its too big for screenshot

steady mantle
#

ctrl-shift-c to copy from terminal

#

ctrl-shift-a to select all

loud current
#

is this better? i did ctrl shift c

#

there's your problem

loud current
#

no audio drivers... 💀

steady mantle
#

due to fall of 2024 board release

#

upgrade the linux kernel

#

6.8 was last spring's

#

since ur board is past that, it isnt handling AMD

loud current
#

how do i fix it?

steady mantle
#

(AMD onboard audio)

#

open driver manager

loud current
#

yes

steady mantle
#

click VIEW> kernels

loud current
#

?

steady mantle
#

choose the latest in 6.11 series

#

and install. then reboot

loud current
steady mantle
#

then check when u return. do inxi -SAxxx

#

update manager

#

not driver manager

#

my mistake

loud current
#

all good you could say anything and id believe you lmfao

#

my knowledge for now in this is 0

#

im learning how to breath rn not even how to walk

steady mantle
#

still nope

#

do any of your monitors have built-in speakers?

loud current
#

i think 1

steady mantle
#

you can use the HDMI output for audio then

#

or try installing the mainline kernel, which will push it to 6.14-something

loud current
#

no audio works

steady mantle
#

ensure ur using the hdmi connector coming from the nvidia card

#

not from the onboard AMD stuff

#

DP carries audio too i think, but not sure

loud current
#

youll have to explain because i dont understand sorry

steady mantle
#

look at back of computer

#

u may see video connectors like HDMI n Display Port (DP)

loud current
#

yes

steady mantle
#

appearing in two separate and distinct places

loud current
#

okok i understand now

#

i use 1 hdmi for my second monitor

#

and 1 dp for my main

steady mantle
#

use the nvidia jack to the mon. that has speakers builtin

loud current
#

to the mon?

steady mantle
#

the monitor

loud current
#

alr

#

gimme a sec

steady mantle
#

ur nvidia drivers are seemingly working

#

so that should pass sound too

loud current
#

my second monitor (has speaker) only has 1 hdmi port which was alr connected to it

steady mantle
#

make sure that monitor's built-in menu is set to allow speakers to work

loud current
#

my main one is purely just a screen

steady mantle
loud current
#

ya its all good like its supposed to

steady mantle
#

set output

#

to proper DP one

#

or hdmi, whatever

loud current
#

ya it doesnt work

steady mantle
#

then click test sound

loud current
#

both dont work

steady mantle
#

brb

loud current
#

alr

steady mantle
#

can u please open software manager, and search the app "Resources"

#

it's a fatpak so hope u got fast internet

#

install it

#

i wanna see which gpu is actually working if at all

loud current
steady mantle
#

yeep

loud current
#

what now

steady mantle
#

installed?

loud current
#

its done*

#

ye

steady mantle
#

open youtube and put some high FPS video on. like those fancy 4k nature vids

#

then open Resources app and stretch it wide enough to see gpu graphs well. and show a ss

loud current
#

the other gpu is the onboard gpu for my cpu

steady mantle
#

it's cut off anyway

#

nvm i see it on left

#

as GPU1

#

Puzzled why the nvidia isnt passing sound

#

is the connection HDMI or DP?

loud current
#

hdmi

#

i cant use dp on my second monitor

steady mantle
#

ok so hdmi cord from nvidia card to monitor that has speakers, correct?

loud current
#

yes

steady mantle
#

and monitors audio volume is up?

loud current
#

yes

#

at 52

#

and system volume at 100

steady mantle
#

well try diff solution. mainline kernel

#

or test UBUNTU cinnamon 25.04 on a live usb

#

n test ur luck on that

#

see if the Family 17h audio card works there

loud current
#

so i do like i did for linux mint but with ubuntu cinnamon?

#

download that stuff on rufus and into the usb stick?

#

wait it says for windows

steady mantle
#

u can use rufus on anothr machine, or use ventoy on Mint to prep the drive

loud current
#

ventoy ok thank you

steady mantle
#

#1295816480256163892 message

#

once prepped, u just slap the iso on the drive as a data file

#

u can drag n drop ISOs or delete them as desired later

loud current
#

"In Linux's Gnome-Disks (or Windows Disk Management) you will see it creates a large, empty VENTOY main partition, and a quite small EFI partition." im not sure i understand this

#

wait nvm its the gnome disks thing that caught me off guard i looked in disks and i see what you mean

#

im unsure where to find my usb in file manager?

steady mantle
#

in devices

#

labelled Ventoy

loud current
#

nope

#

i only see 1 of my ssd

#

i have 2 of them

steady mantle
#

erm in disks app, click usb

loud current
#

yes

steady mantle
#

click stop button on any mounted partitions

#

if applicable

loud current
#

i can turn off the disk

steady mantle
#

then pull it out and reinsert

loud current
#

there we go

#

thank you

#

ok its in time to wait a minute

steady mantle
#

u got 'buntu cinnamon 25?

loud current
#

ik its a very fast usb but just to be safe yknow

#

yes

steady mantle
#

what is it 5 gigs?

loud current
#

well i think i did and yeah something like that

steady mantle
#

the iso filename says what it is

loud current
#

the file just says ubuntu-25.04-desktop-amd64.iso

steady mantle
#

k u didnt get cinnamon but w/e

#

just test it.

loud current
steady mantle
#

for hardware purposes no

#

for user experience, possibly

#

when u boot it, just choose "TRY ubuntu" not install

loud current
#

ok so now thats its in it i go bios run it using usb and do the whole thing?

steady mantle
#

at some white screen

steady mantle
#

see added notes in the usb prep info link

loud current
#

alr im trying ubuntu

steady mantle
#

make sure ur amplified speakers are on the green 3.5mm jack on back of PC

#

n do an inxi -SGAxx in terminal

loud current
#

im using earbuds

#

cuz thats what i use i dont use the speakers

steady mantle
#

are they wired earbuds?

loud current
#

yes

steady mantle
#

3.5 mm stereo miniplug?

loud current
#

i assume yes

#

i use HEXA but Truthhear

steady mantle
#

the plug has two (or 3) very thin black bands on it?

loud current
#

by*

#

2 black bands

steady mantle
#

kk

#

standard miniplug

#

check ubuntu volume app n test it all out

loud current
#

i did

#

and it didnt work

steady mantle
loud current
#

command not found

steady mantle
#

sudo apt install inxi

loud current
#

done

#

test a/v output over hdmi

#

i take it ur LG screen is the one with speakers

loud current
#

yes

loud current
steady mantle
#

hang on

#

do in terminal::
sudo apt update && sudo apt install pavucontrol

#

then open pulseaudio vol. control from the app launcher

#

(hit win key n type)

#

stretch it wide to see all tabs

#

go to the config tab

#

disable all profiles except nvidia hdmi

#

the go to Output tab, n ensure it's showin hdmi n turned up

loud current
#

nvidia hdmi isnt in it

steady mantle
#

hmm

loud current
#

wait im stupid

#

HDA NVidia
profile?

#

theres alot of ouputs in it

#

and most of them are all unavaillable

steady mantle
#

stereo digital out

#

via hdmi

loud current
#

theres 2 of those

#

hdmi 1 and 2

steady mantle
#

cuz 2 ports maybe

#

just like u saw in Mint

#

play some audio

#

n check output tab

#

u should see a meter bar under the slider

loud current
#

yes but i still dont hear anything

#

WAIT

steady mantle
#

is the meter bar fluctuating?

loud current
#

HOLD ON I USED MY DONGLE TO INCREASE BASS AND NOW I HEAR SHIT

#

OMG

steady mantle
#

what dongle is that?

loud current
#

came with another set of earbuds by truthhear

steady mantle
#

a remote for the monitor?

loud current
#

no lemme take a pic

steady mantle
#

cuz i thought u were testing hdmi atm

loud current
#

that dongle

#

thingy ma bob

#

im listening to radio music but it feels so good to hear again omg

steady mantle
#

that just appears to be a plug shrinker?

#

for 2 mm insert

loud current
#

you plug the 2mm earbud piece into it

#

and then that into the jack port on the computer

steady mantle
#

ok so look at pavucontrol

#

output tab

#

maximize window

loud current
#

alr

steady mantle
#

which THING is actively playing?

#

which meter bar

loud current
#

USB Audio front headphones

steady mantle
loud current
loud current
#

nothing less than bliss

steady mantle
#

how's a plug insert adapter "increase bass"??

loud current
#

idfk man company marketing or sum all ik the products they sell is good shit

steady mantle
#

well at least u havee established what pushes sound now

loud current
#

yes

steady mantle
#

try the green rear jack

#

u *may have to enable the Family 17H profile to stereo analog out

loud current
steady mantle
#

so, seems like newer kernel fixes the "usb front audio" (soundcard??)

loud current
#

i do nvm

steady mantle
#

Device-4: Generic USB Audio driver: hid-generic,snd-usb-audio,usbhid
type: USB rev: 2.0 speed: 480 Mb/s lanes: 1 bus-ID: 1-10:7

loud current
#

i dont hear sound again

steady mantle
#

check profiles and output tab

#

rear jacks must be amd onboard audio

loud current
#

nvm it does

steady mantle
#

which strangely showed driver> n/a

loud current
#

had to switch hifi 2.0 to 7.1

#

and now i hear

steady mantle
#

even more strange

#

kek

loud current
#

but it works.

#

what works doesnt need messing

#

what works works and is better than not work

steady mantle
#

System:
Host: ubuntu Kernel: 6.14.0-15-generic arch: x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc

#

so u can try same experiment with official ubuntu cinnamon

#

or if u like gnome desktop stay

loud current
#

i dont mind it

#

it feels cozy and cant i like customize it to my liking?

steady mantle
#

u can get some nome extensions, like dash-to-panel

loud current
#

cuz i heard you can do that with linux

steady mantle
#

for a more classic workflow

#

or add Plank dock

#

or use as-is

loud current
#

one thing that is bothering me is that when switching to my monitor to the left i have to move my cursor to the right side of my right monitor

steady mantle
#

i forgot how that works

loud current
#

fixed it

steady mantle
#

something about dragging the monitors around virtually, or setting primary

loud current
#

went in display settings and just moved em

#

similar to windows so i kinda knew how

#

ok so now i have to fully instal ubuntu and just try it right?

steady mantle
#

keep in mind ur on nouveau vid drivers (which may or may not be better for u)

loud current
#

all i do is game and i plan on learning how to properly use linux

steady mantle
#

yeah u may as well install if ur happy with it.

loud current
#

and learn coding and programming as a side hobby after work

#

cuz it seems fun and challenging

#

but genuinely thank you

steady mantle
#

and other external program desktop things like conky and conkymanager2

#

for fanciness

loud current
#

thank you

steady mantle
#

yw

loud current
#

like seriously i been at this all day and i can finally go to bed for work lmfao

steady mantle
#

heh

#

I think Mint would just need the 6.14 kernel, which is available thru mainline www.kernel.org

loud current
#

I have tried forum after forum discord after discord person after person i was on the brink of going to windows or hiring someone

loud current
steady mantle
#

it's a matter of using tools like i knew of from being senior here, to probe n investigate

loud current
#

Thank you great oneprayge

steady mantle
#

YW again

loud current
#

My Butter-Sex-Machine now works lmfao

#

(The name i gave it)

steady mantle
#

once installed, set up timeshift saves for weekly, and take a manual one soon

#

helps big in case of massive system mess

#

easy rollback to a working state (snapshot)

loud current
#

As someone who is brand new to all of this and wants to learn whats 1 main advice youd give

steady mantle
#

ur welcome to look thru #1295728709306683482 for more tips

loud current
#

Aight ill give it a wherl

steady mantle
#

can even jus relax n listento voice

loud current
#

Bet

steady mantle
#

search his vid library

loud current
#

Ill do that after work

steady mantle
#

k have a good day/night

loud current
#

You too man!

steady mantle

tag it solved i guess

loud current
