Not while on linux when i was on windows it did yes
Never had an issue outside of voicemeter
(Program i used for voice and audio and whatnot in windows)
Ima send that in a minute
Device-3: AMD Family 17h/19h HD Audio driver: N/A pcie: speed: 16 GT/s
lanes: 16 bus-ID: 71:00.6 chip-ID: 1022:15e3 class-ID: 0403
there's your problem
no audio drivers... 💀
due to fall of 2024 board release
upgrade the linux kernel
6.8 was last spring's
since ur board is past that, it isnt handling AMD
how do i fix it?
yes
click VIEW> kernels
?
then check when u return. do inxi -SAxxx
update manager
not driver manager
my mistake
all good you could say anything and id believe you lmfao
my knowledge for now in this is 0
im learning how to breath rn not even how to walk

i think 1
you can use the HDMI output for audio then
or try installing the mainline kernel, which will push it to 6.14-something
it doesnt work either
no audio works
ensure ur using the hdmi connector coming from the nvidia card
not from the onboard AMD stuff
DP carries audio too i think, but not sure
youll have to explain because i dont understand sorry
yes
appearing in two separate and distinct places
use the nvidia jack to the mon. that has speakers builtin
to the mon?
the monitor
my second monitor (has speaker) only has 1 hdmi port which was alr connected to it
make sure that monitor's built-in menu is set to allow speakers to work
my main one is purely just a screen
I'd imagine it has easy to reach volume buttons or soemthing too
ya its all good like its supposed to
ya it doesnt work
then click test sound
both dont work
brb
alr
can u please open software manager, and search the app "Resources"
it's a fatpak so hope u got fast internet
install it
i wanna see which gpu is actually working if at all
?
yeep
what now
installed?
open youtube and put some high FPS video on. like those fancy 4k nature vids
then open Resources app and stretch it wide enough to see gpu graphs well. and show a ss
it's cut off anyway
nvm i see it on left
as GPU1
Puzzled why the nvidia isnt passing sound
is the connection HDMI or DP?
ok so hdmi cord from nvidia card to monitor that has speakers, correct?
yes
and monitors audio volume is up?
well try diff solution. mainline kernel
or test UBUNTU cinnamon 25.04 on a live usb
n test ur luck on that
see if the Family 17h audio card works there
so i do like i did for linux mint but with ubuntu cinnamon?
download that stuff on rufus and into the usb stick?
wait it says for windows
u can use rufus on anothr machine, or use ventoy on Mint to prep the drive
ventoy ok thank you
#1295816480256163892 message
once prepped, u just slap the iso on the drive as a data file
u can drag n drop ISOs or delete them as desired later
"In Linux's Gnome-Disks (or Windows Disk Management) you will see it creates a large, empty VENTOY main partition, and a quite small EFI partition." im not sure i understand this
wait nvm its the gnome disks thing that caught me off guard i looked in disks and i see what you mean
im unsure where to find my usb in file manager?
erm in disks app, click usb
yes
i can turn off the disk
then pull it out and reinsert
u got 'buntu cinnamon 25?
what is it 5 gigs?
well i think i did and yeah something like that
the iso filename says what it is
would it be better if i did?
for hardware purposes no
for user experience, possibly
when u boot it, just choose "TRY ubuntu" not install
ok so now thats its in it i go bios run it using usb and do the whole thing?
at some white screen
aight
see added notes in the usb prep info link
alr im trying ubuntu
make sure ur amplified speakers are on the green 3.5mm jack on back of PC
n do an inxi -SGAxx in terminal
are they wired earbuds?
yes
3.5 mm stereo miniplug?
the plug has two (or 3) very thin black bands on it?
.
command not found
sudo apt install inxi

test a/v output over hdmi
i take it ur LG screen is the one with speakers
yes
how do i do that?
hang on
do in terminal::
sudo apt update && sudo apt install pavucontrol
then open pulseaudio vol. control from the app launcher
(hit win key n type)
stretch it wide to see all tabs
go to the config tab
disable all profiles except nvidia hdmi
the go to Output tab, n ensure it's showin hdmi n turned up
nvidia hdmi isnt in it
hmm
wait im stupid
HDA NVidia
profile?
theres alot of ouputs in it
and most of them are all unavaillable
cuz 2 ports maybe
just like u saw in Mint
play some audio
n check output tab
u should see a meter bar under the slider
is the meter bar fluctuating?
what dongle is that?
came with another set of earbuds by truthhear
a remote for the monitor?
no lemme take a pic
cuz i thought u were testing hdmi atm
that dongle
thingy ma bob
im listening to radio music but it feels so good to hear again omg
you plug the 2mm earbud piece into it
and then that into the jack port on the computer
alr
USB Audio front headphones
lol wtf is this?
how's a plug insert adapter "increase bass"??
idfk man company marketing or sum all ik the products they sell is good shit
well at least u havee established what pushes sound now
yes
try the green rear jack
u *may have to enable the Family 17H profile to stereo analog out
i dont think i have that
so, seems like newer kernel fixes the "usb front audio" (soundcard??)
i do nvm
Device-4: Generic USB Audio driver: hid-generic,snd-usb-audio,usbhid
type: USB rev: 2.0 speed: 480 Mb/s lanes: 1 bus-ID: 1-10:7
chip-ID: 26ce:0a08
i dont hear sound again
nvm it does
which strangely showed driver> n/a
but it works.
what works doesnt need messing
what works works and is better than not work

so u can try same experiment with official ubuntu cinnamon
or if u like gnome desktop stay
u can get some nome extensions, like dash-to-panel
cuz i heard you can do that with linux
one thing that is bothering me is that when switching to my monitor to the left i have to move my cursor to the right side of my right monitor
i forgot how that works
fixed it
something about dragging the monitors around virtually, or setting primary
went in display settings and just moved em
similar to windows so i kinda knew how
ok so now i have to fully instal ubuntu and just try it right?
keep in mind ur on nouveau vid drivers (which may or may not be better for u)
all i do is game and i plan on learning how to properly use linux
yeah u may as well install if ur happy with it.
and learn coding and programming as a side hobby after work
cuz it seems fun and challenging
but genuinely thank you
somewhat. gnome has a knack for being kinda set in a certain way/look but like i said, there's extensions
and other external program desktop things like conky and conkymanager2
for fanciness
thank you
yw
like seriously i been at this all day and i can finally go to bed for work lmfao
heh
I think Mint would just need the 6.14 kernel, which is available thru mainline www.kernel.org
I have tried forum after forum discord after discord person after person i was on the brink of going to windows or hiring someone
Ima stick to what works for now but thank you
it's a matter of using tools like i knew of from being senior here, to probe n investigate
Thank you great one
YW again
once installed, set up timeshift saves for weekly, and take a manual one soon
helps big in case of massive system mess
easy rollback to a working state (snapshot)
As someone who is brand new to all of this and wants to learn whats 1 main advice youd give
ur welcome to look thru #1295728709306683482 for more tips
Aight ill give it a wherl
watch some intro vids by Joe Collins ezeelinux on yt
can even jus relax n listento voice
Bet
search his vid library
Ill do that after work
k have a good day/night
You too man!
tag it solved i guess
