#Can't install anything because of conflicting drivers?

I'm nowhere near my computer currently (at work) but wanted to get a head start on the problem. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

I'm on Mint 22.1, and can't download anything. Not Steam or Anki or anything, not from the source or the Software Manager. The command --fix-broken install doesn't work and neither does install -f. It seems to be 6 different i386 files causing the problem. Would anyone know where to begin with this? I had to install drivers to get my graphics card to work, and think maybe that caused something to happen.

Could someone point me in the right direction so I can work on it when I get home? Thank you in advance

Can you share the error you get while trying to install packages?

and check 'software sources' in start menu. if shows CD-ROM as a source, remove. make sure the Mint Wilma and Ubuntu 24 repos are in there

Hello guys, I just got on to list how I fixed the error and what I think caused it. I believe everything is okay now, thank you

#

So when I first installed Mint 22 on my computer, I had my HDMI display hooked up to the CPU with integrated graphics. I assumed I would need to install the drivers for my GPU, so I did that. I believe this is what caused all my eventual problems down the line.

I upgraded to Mint 22.1, and I still had a bunch of problems. In the end I decided to boot from the USB and reinstall Mint 22. I kept my HDMI plugged into the GPU, and when Mint booted I still had a display. This time I did not install drivers, the GPU simply worked. I installed Mint 22 onto the computer. Used the update manager to install a update to the update manager, and then I upgraded to Mint 22.1

Now everything is working 🙂 I will show some pictures here of the errors I was getting in case it helps other people

All of these support threads I opened were about the same issue that I had two days ago, lol. I apologize if that was too much. I do still have the snapshot that was made yesterday 🙂

I'm not sure. Yesterday I was having the same problem I was having two days ago. So I reinstalled 22, updated the update manager, then upgraded to 22.1 Now I'm here lol
