#LM 22.1 random short freezes after a few hours of uptime.

I'm starting to get random freezing, for example, if I am typing during this "stutter" it will pause and then the text will continue typing. Similarily, if I change a song, music plays but the application takes a long time to update to the next song. Happens in both Rhythmbox and spotify.

I've noticed little freezes on almost all programs, firefox, discord, vscodium, rhythmbox, signal etc.

Not sure what is going wrong, but I didn't have this issue on LM 21.3

It would appear it was a driver issue with my graphics card. I changed to nvidia-driver-550 from nvidia-driver-535

Nevermind, it started again after a few hours of uptime again.

First for nvidia make sure you have the secure boot option turned off in your BIOS. The current state can be viewed with mokutil --sb-state in terminal.

#

Then make sure you do not have nvidia performance mode turned on.

Freezes can be an early sign of hardware failure, either electrical, heat-related or just a worn-out part starting to die. It can of course also be a driver/kernel issue. To rule out the latter, you could switch to the 6.11 kernel branch (from the default 6.8 you are running now). In Update Manager > View > Linux kernels you can pick which one to install. It will be applied after a reboot, but the old one will still be there to switch back.
