No google in software manager

For some reason I can't find Google Chrome in the software manager of mint. Any idea or is it my mint that playing

chromium-browser will

Click download, choose the .deb file.

After that, go to Downloads folder, double click on that, an installation prompt will show up.

Likely unverified Flatpak. Not suggested. I don't recall Chrome being on the Mint repositories either.

Unverified Flatpak has since been made to not show up in the Software Manager for about a year now.

some distros like Q4OS or Ubuntu MATE have their own mini curated software stores, and include chrome

Ubuntu MATE doesn't have one anymore. They have deprecated Software Boutique on 24.04. They use the upstream App Center now.

Sparky Linux and Linux Lite also have a mini curated "shop" with some popular selections

but my plaque of getting software is way to go for any newb
