Hey, I have a question about installing proprietary Nvidia drivers on Linux Mint while keeping Secure Boot enabled. I'm not sure how to do this on Linux, so any guidance would be appreciated.

You should just be able to select them in the driver manager

I know, but the issue I have is that if I turn Secure Boot on, it reverts back to the open-source driver, even though the Driver Manager panel in Linux Mint states that it’s currently using the proprietary driver. shrugpepe

So that should help? :)

Yes, it enrolls the Linux Mint signing key into Machine Owners Key(mok) and then Secure Boot can be used

To clarify, after installing the NVIDIA driver through the Additional Drivers Manager, should I reboot with secure boot disabled and then execute the command, or should I first enter my BIOS/UEFI to enable secure boot and then execute the command?

Install the Nvidia driver with Secure Boot disabled, run the commands, reboot and enable Secure Boot

Oh okay, thank you so much.

I apologize I am a little bit confused, do I ignore the reboot option when it successfully installed the driver and then submit the command and then reboot?

Yes

I apologize again, I have issues with important procedures and understanding right away.
I asked Google Gemini and they provided this:

Would that be correct?

My method is correct, you could run the commands I posted before installing the Nvidia driver and rebooting and enabling Secure Boot

I didn’t install the drivers yet. I’m just trying to find a method and instructions to implement the methods happypepe

When I tested those commands, I had multiple out of kernel modules already in use. I ran the commands and then enabled Secure Boot and there were no problems, it should be no different with the Nvidia module

sudo mokutil -i /var/lib/shim-signed/mok/MOK.der mokutil --list-enrolled sudo mokutil --test-key /var/lib/shim-signed/mok/MOK.der

It seems to be working, thank you so much!

I had a question, would that command also work on Fedora?

It might, but you may have to make your own MOK.der file
