#No storage drive detected while installing windows, won't let me install intel rapid storage drivers
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Do you perhaps have UEFI secure boot enabled
the laptop does not have a uefi, just has classic bios
Can you boot into Linux and run lspci to tell us what technology it uses or do you already know
it has an intel cpu, the ssd is attached in the image
Which version of windows again?
the version im installing or the version im on rn?
Versions before a specific release of 10 can't use NVME
The version of windows you're installing
windows 10 ltsc iot 2015
Won't work, that doesn't have NVME drivers
which is earliest version that does have?
I'm not sure
i might try tiny10
What's wrong with 22H2 LTSC
older version uses less ram
i only have 16gb of soldered ram, and i need the laptop to run very demanding programs and want to maximise my free ram
Tiny10 likes to break things
damn ill just do 22h2 ltsc in that case
do i need x64 or x86?
That's not really how it works, all versions of windows are ram hogs
If you want to minimise RAM usage the best you can do is disable defender
no wait x86 is 32 bit
Well, you tell me. Is this laptop 64 or 32 bit?
mb i thought x32 was 32 bit and x64 was 64 bit and x86 was like no idea
x86 is i386 (32-bit CISC), x64 is AMD64 (64-bit CISC)
downloading iso rn
do i need to download the drivers too? or will it come with the drivers? or do i just put the drivers on the usb just in case?
You hopefully shouldn't have to
If you want more RAM just turn on virtual memory
@cold dawn minimum with nvme2 supporr is 21H2
I looked it up
God
ill leave it afk for a bit
bro died...
yo, i actually JUST fixed this issue few days ago.
you need to disable VMD
in bios settings
wheres md?
ill give it an eye rq
after that diskpart will be able to recognize it (even if you install driver media its not seen by diskpart)
then youll have to run the clean command (i recommend installing windows with ventoy)
cause with ventoy you can have multiple installation iso's if something goes wrong
and boot back into your distro of choice
also its just faster
on my bios its here
does it need to be enable or disabled
disabled.
i dont seem to have it
can i see?
what bios are you running
thats everything in advanced
its a laptop one, so oem bios ig
acer aspire a515-58m
95r2 version to be specific but that doesnt matter
acer aspire a515-58m-95r2
ok umm
ye?
interesting
now it lets me change stuff in the main tab
doesnt do anything in information tavb
gives another option in advamced:
TBT Dectectyopm GAIN
does nothing in security and boot
not at all cmpletely different
looks like this
i need to see what it looks like
not mine but very similar
this is ffrom and actual acer
this one is more similar to mine
except for specs the rest is identical
can you not take a pic of your laptop?
uh i could but why
the only thing that differs from this is the specs
aight ill go get phone then
thank you
i left it in some unknown space
woah f1 worked
do you see it?
can you use your mouse
your using your laptop keys yes?
yes
can you press f1 again?
work now?
if i go to f1 menu, it wont let me move around
hmmm :/
youll have to figure this out yourself cause i cant test that
id say look up the issue online
and if all else fails see if you can update bios
on the bottom of screen it says f1 is for help
oh, then its not advanced options at all.
in fact thats what i thought and thats why i cant move
try... right shift + right control + left alt +f2
thats my advanced settings shortcut
doubt itll work for you but its worth a shot
nah doesnt do anything
so through windows recovery?
oh wait this is windows stuff
wait so do i do what ti says
nah
iok
this is all thats listed on the user manual, wow.
it doesnt even say what bios it comes packaged with.

its not about repairing its about the edition i isntalled
You can update
i accidentally installed windows 11 iot enterprise EVALUATION
not the actual iot enterprise but evaluation versiopn
Oh lmao
so i need to reinstall windows (which rly isnt going well for me)
whatsthat
in the installation menu you can put this in drivers
put it on a different drive
or maybe even ventoy if itll work
the drivers will make the drive be recognized by settup
but it wont show up in diskpart
if the drive doesnt need to be cleaned then it should be fine
Yea
ok
@icy storm it says no signed drivers were found so i cant install the driver from windows setup thing
Really?
ye
You navigated to the vmd folder?
vmd folder?
Yea you can navigate folders in it
whats vmd folder
Browse and itll take you to the main folder
wdym
ok...
so- when you select drivers
select device, then click the arrows next to the folders
when it told me no drives found and to load a driver
keep going down untill you find the vmd folder
ill create an image for you if you want
ye that would be ideal
how do i use mouse it disabled my mouse\
Trackpad?
doesnt work
Try keyboard shortcuts
idk what shortcut can open folder
then?
Ohhhh
Hmmm, well. You can just move the vmd folder up if you have no other choice
No i mean move it in windows os
so i eed to get out of setup?
the folder doesnt need to be 5 layers deep lol
also- HOW
i feel like at that point something be wrong with your computer
ohalso
i can't open vmd from here also bc it doesn't show up because its nopt a signed driver
is that the error it gives you
it says its not a signed driver or smth
uggghhhh
this
in the vmd folder?
can't acess the vmd folder
why not i told you to move it up
how olds ur laptop
these are drivers for newer chips
try installing drivers for your hardware
then try again
13 gen drivers
idk bro
I can't help you right now
First, turn off secure boot in BIOS. Second, download the intel RST driver from intel's website and put it on a second USB stick. Insert both USB sticks (the one with windows and the one with the intel drivers), select load drivers from windows install and try to search which of them work. I know that some of them do not work.
doesn;t work
the drivers arent seen as valid drivers and arent visible
secure boot is not in bios as an option either
There is an option somewhere on the installer to browse for files.
yeah i have
it tells me
no drivers found
Try to extract the archive before adding them to the USB stick.
ofc ive done that
Maybe the usb port is deffect.
nope bc the usb is detected fine
