#Poor soundstage on the Realtek alc897 soundcard compared to usb audio dacs on iems and a headset
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
you've got front channel muted. go to its column, n press m
will check
nothing still the difference from the usb audio and the front IO is still massive
what are you listening via analog on?
Thuthear Gate same issue happens with my gaming headset and very very cheap earbuds I found in my drawer
idk maybe cheap soundcard
People online seem to be praising the Realtek alc897 but I cant really wrap my head around it?
it's more apparent via headphones. running amplified speakers, u may not notice
currently using iems
polish the TRS plug. maybe oxide or dirt. not conducting well
or did you install some kind of DSP/effect software? one which would affect the analog soundcard, but not the USB/digital out?
James DSP is running but everything is off
might try turning it off completely
still no difference
perhaphs sometrhing with the motherboard? B550M AORUS ELITE
maybe the fact that I dont have alsa-firmware installed could do soemthing with it?
mention me please if you know anything that might fix my issue
boot the live ISO and test sound from that environment, to rule out software u added causing the issue
Any live linux distro?
yeah any mainstream one
WIll check tommorow because I dont have that much time today
downloading the iso is gonna take some time thanks to my internet connections speeds
miniOS standard is a small, workable one
perhaps could also try using my old laptop aux port?
It also uses a realtek soundcard on the same os too
that would test ur headphones, but does nothing for your current pc
Yeah fair enough scrap that idea then
is there any way you can change the channel mode/number inside alsa mixer?
This
use pwvucontrol or pavucontrol
huh? You gotta be kidding me it just converts anything to poor stereo of the headphones and they dare to call it high end audio? This gotta be a big joke while yes it does support 24 bit 124 khz audio whats the point if you wont have a high quality soundstage looks like this soundcard is simply no dice for headphones and earbuds etc just ment for speakers which have an inbuild amp
is there any 'app' that gives me lots of control over the audio settings on linux? That allows editing the audio config files?
seems like the soundcard is just straigh up trash thats a shame at least I know what dac/amp chips to avoid
I guess its time to look for the cheapest imagineable dac/amp with at least a hi-res certification
