👍 ty
Also just disable secure boot I think that's the main cause of the issue
imma try that
I'm not super familiar with the bios on my laptop yet, I miss my msi bios ;-;
this likely means you installed with secure boot support, but didnt register it on blue screen at next reboot.
just turn it off if u dont need it (corporate rules, etc)
I'm trying to figure out how
I'm assuming I just put it on disabled and restart?
Save and exist
ok, it worked👍 should I boot grub2 or normal. which is easier
oh u havent installed anything yet?
u mean u hadn't even once booted the live system to a desktop yet?
normal mode for all. .and test ALL your a/v and ALL ur network hardware in live environment first
I think things are going well now
and open the disks app (same name) to familiarize with drive names
ok ... I will .. poke around pretending I know exactly what you mean
so far this seems very intuitive
all the stuff in System Settings is also found in start menu: Preferences, and you can type-search anything that is an app or setting from menu search bar
now, should I encrypt the home folder? the guide said it's recommended on laptops, and I'm on public wifi most of the time because it's my school laptop
if you're carrying it around a whole lot, and u expect to keep sensitive forms, pics, or info on it. i suppose.
just home folder part ought to do
otherwise no
it's a big hassle to rescue files from if issues
I see, thank you.
Hey, I also have a Asus laptop. I'm trying to install Linux mint in dual boot.
In the BIOS, secured boot is already turned off for me.
But still not able to boot into mint. Facing some probelms.
