ok can you plug in via ethernet cable to your modem/router?

burnt oyster
#

I plugged it into that thing that makes ur wifi stronger around the house

#

idk whats its called in english

little dust
#

a repeater?

burnt oyster
#

I think so

little dust
#

or the actual router?

burnt oyster
#

Nah a repeater

#

Could plug it into the actual one

little dust
#

it probably doesnt work like that

burnt oyster
#

Ill plug it into the actual one

little dust
#

the ethernet jack for a repeater is for direct cable-INPUT, not for LAN/OUTPUT

#

i could be wrong, but probably.

burnt oyster
#

But wireless did not work should ethernet work then?

little dust
#

likely it will. they are two DIFFERENT adapters in a computer.

burnt oyster
#

So main router does not work either.

little dust
#

make sure on the back of router, you plug to one of the many ports labelled LAN

#

eg: LAN1, LAN2, LAN3

#

and definitely not WAN

burnt oyster
#

Ehm so its kind of a cable to my room idk which its plugged in ill go check brb

#

So its lan

#

Imn pretty sure

little dust
#

alright.

#

now, open terminal on the pc with Mint.

#

execute this command: inxi -SCMNxxx

#

then show a landscape-oriented photograph if you have digital camera here.

burnt oyster
#

Am i not gonna leak anything thats bad or smth

little dust
#

u can read it yourself first

#

it wont show anything confidential

burnt oyster
#

Whats it gonna show?

little dust
#

operating System, CPU type, Machine type/model, Network info

burnt oyster
#

This is what i got

little dust
#

good. everything's fine I think

#

now, do rfkill --output-all and show

burnt oyster
#

wahats it gonna kill

little dust
#

radio frequency status of any radio devices in ur pc

west atlas
#

try
sudo systemctl status NetworkManager

burnt oyster
little dust
#

nah it's probably a hard-switch

#

ok soft blocked

#

go to settings,

#

Network item.

#

do you find any connections shown at all?

burnt oyster
#

You mean like just network

little dust
#

mhm

burnt oyster
#

Were i see al my wireless connectin?

little dust
#

in system settings

burnt oyster
#

Yh all of the wireless conection are there

little dust
#

delete them

burnt oyster
#

How

little dust
#

right click: delete connection

#

then make a new one. CAREFULLY

#

step by step

burnt oyster
#

I cant delete

#

I went into system settings

little dust
#

show a pic of the thing plese

burnt oyster
#

and then searched Network

#

Its like this buyt then there also loopback and f2p

#

Found this pick online btw

#

Oh wait i can forget a network if thats what u mean

little dust
#

ya

burnt oyster
#

But i can only forget like 3 of them

little dust
#

after that, select wifi on left, and the + sign

burnt oyster
#

Done

little dust
#

make wireless new connection. give it a name.. "eg Home1 WLAN

burnt oyster
#

A open vpn?

little dust
#

no

burnt oyster
#

or a point to point tunneling protocol

little dust
#

a simple new wireless connection

#

802.11 is the standard for WiFi technology

burnt oyster
#

When i click on the plus thing it comes up with a window that says add new vpn

little dust
#

skip that

burnt oyster
#

Wdym thats all that pops up

little dust
#

ok forget the plus thing. select your home wifi in the list of found local broadcasts.

burnt oyster
#

Do i need to connect to it

little dust
#

then connect, and use the PROPER credentials, and the proper security mode that the router uses. most use wpa2, unless it's open and uses no password

burnt oyster
#

Alright im connected what to i do now?

little dust
#

does it show automatic for DHCP

#

like if u click the gear icon near the network name

burnt oyster
#

If i click on the wheel it says wpa wpa2

little dust
#

now in the system tray, you should see the wireless symbol appear there.

#

test in web browser if works.

burnt oyster
#

im still connected to wired

#

can turn that off

#

if needed

little dust
#

or just unplug the cable

burnt oyster
#

done still get the server not found error

little dust
burnt oyster
#

Fixed it

#

im so stupid and sorry for waisting ur time

little dust
#

mhm

#

burnt oyster
#

I had m firewall block the outgoing request

little dust
#

burnt oyster
#
