I have a laptop I want to sell. I want to make sure all my data is securely removed. If I delete all partitions in the Disks app and then create a new partition the size of the entire drive and then set the option to overwrite it will that be secure for selling my laptop? I have an SSD if that makes a difference.

idk how secure that simple option is. probably on a scale of 1 to 10 of maximum confidentiality, I'd guess a 2 or 3

if you want a more secure job done, then flash a usb up with Shred OS, and boot that up. choose the proper, exact SSD from there that you want to wipe, pick shred algorithm, 1 or 2 passes, and let her rip.

Is there an advantage of ShredOS over just doing shred -vfz -n 10 /dev/nvme0 ?

I heard for SSDs there's no point in doing more than 1 overwrite
