Hello, I got an Ideapas 5 pro gen 9 14'' Ryzen 7 8845hs, 780m iGPU, 32gb ram and a 2,8k 120Hz oled display. When running Windows 11, everything works fine.
No matter what Linux Distribution I am installing, it runs slow and i got screen bugs and strange colored stripes on the display for a fraction of a second. When I set the display refreshrate from 120Hz to 60Hz, I got less bugs and it runs a bit better in general. But still not really good.
Is this a known issue and how can I fix this?

I have this same issue. Try Linux Mint
Cinnamon
Trust me its pretty good.
Or it could be a problem with Secure Boot.
Do you have that on or off?
And also do you use Ubuntu? Because I have 16 GB and it still runs like garbage.
Whenever I try to logon it went to a black screen.
what Linux distros (and associated desktop environments of them) have you tried?
me?
i have tried kubuntu and linux mint and ubuntu
no @sand epoch
oh
I tried fedora with gnome and KDE Plasma, Mint with cinnamon, endeavour os with KDE Plasma and Ubuntu.
ah
Secure boot and Pluton is enabled.
disable them prob
Both?
It is something like a security processor from Microsoft I think.
But I also have not heard much about it
Just Secure Boot prob turn off.
Lemme know if that fixes anything.
And if it does not please turn it back on!
Or make sure.
I'll try.
Ok!
check your video information too. inxi -Gxx in terminal too. make sure there is a driver listed for the gpu
Same problem even with Pluton and secura boot disabled...
780m is a nvidia chip yes?
It's a amd iGPU.
Thank you, it worked
!
Why does this fix the Problem, can you explain it to me?
I can not, someone not in the server currently shared that.
I could ask for you, but do not want to keep doing this messenger thing, you could wait a bit, and the person may join after sometime and let you know, or someone else experienced.
"Lot" is a name in this sentence.
