I decided to uninstall plymouth for no apparent reason and then it booted me into the text based interface. to get back into the graphical one i did the commands in this order
sudo apt update
sudo apt install --reinstall plymouth lightdm
sudo systemctl restart lightdm
sudo reboot
im in the graphical interface now but my mouse is very big. it goes back to normal when i hover over the panel, though.
along with this the login screen looks kind of weird. looks sort of like ubuntu. ill send a screenshot
(note that i am not very smart. i got these commands from chatgpt)
please try to help me fix this issue as i dont want to reinstall mint.

Please help asap
sadly not, if I did I wouldn’t have asked
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Next time use Timeshift.
That’s actually very good advice, cheers
I’m backing up all my data for a clean install now.
im good now thank yew
I was just the guy telling you that you messed up. It's okay to be mad at me.
I am glad you got it sorted, though.
i just uploaded all my stuff uploaded to mega and included some instructions that i wrote myself and got stuff sorted in less than 2 hours, im kinda glad that i messed up because now everything looks and feels good
and i will definitely use timeshift next time
Good. Keep in mind that Timeshift is like Windows Restore. It will save the system state, i.e. all components of the OS outside of user data. Your data are usually not touched by Timeshift either saving or restoring (you can tell it to, but that is not recommended). There is a separate backup tool if you need one. Also, iirc MEGA does have a Linux client you can install locally to sync things.
