i am on linux mint 22
i want a windows 10 vm
i try virtualbox
get iso and install everything is fine until
screen resolution is stuck at 4:3
i find out i have to click on "insert guest additions cd"
a notification pops up saying it is downloading
but it does not download and nothing happens
it doesnt want to install this guest additions
i installed virtualbox through the terminal from the mint package manager

i know what you meant here because it is a semi-often asked question, but be more specific next time. you downloaded it from the repository.
the fix is to visit Virtualbox website, download the .deb installer for it and install it this way.

yep, not only it immediately picked up the vm i made beforehand, the install ga thing also just werked
also now theres the oracle splashscreen when turning on a vm
