Alright, here we are. With both drives attached, you can boot into the install medium again and do a boot repair.
you mean that, it is possible to unplug mint HDD right now, but you dont want to do it every time? then it's easy
You plug the flash drive in again and boot from it?
He installed Linux on one drive, while the other drive was not attached, so os-prober did not register the Windows on it.
oh
Might even be possible to run again from the installed Linux, but I have not used os-prober in a long time.
so i just redon what i did the first time?
You could, or you can just select boot repair.
il just redo
it runs windows
and i selected to run the usb port
ok i got windpows boot manager
When both drives are attached, take care to select the correct one when you get to that step. You want to erase the drive and reinstall Mint this time.
ok i get os selection but i only have windows 10 there
there is only windows 10
ok now it ran as mint
so mint is UEFI and windows is the other one
good information i think
tho the usb doesnt want to run
That will not work. Dual boot only works if both systems have the same boot method.
idk hmm
i mean im fine like this to change wich i want to boot trough bios but il make it work somehow
And I think you may be better off switching drives or useing the UEFI boot menu. Dual boot is complicated, there are many points where you can break your system, and you are clearly a beginner.
tho the usb stick doesnt work do i have to reflash it again
If it does not work, you are doing something wrong.
boot into Windows first, open a run box.. put in msinfo32 and hit enter.
In the sys info window that comes up take extreme note of what it says for "BIOS MODE:"
boot the USB stick the same way
redo the USB with ventoy flasher with GPT option, and copy iso to it after. that should get around any UEFI boot troubles for the stick
rn im on linux but il do that
OP installed Linux on a separate drive, with the Windows drive not attached. I daresay it is best to just keep it that way now and use UEFI boot menu to select the OS.
