if you're going to dual boot, you need to do 3 or 4 things first:
- disable Windows Fast Startup in Win 8, 10, or 11
- disable Bitlocker/unencrypt drive if was bitlocker encryptd
- disable Secure Boot in BIOS
- disable Fast or Quick Boot in BIOS if that's a thing there.
- boot the SAME way that Windows runs

to see which way Windows runs, launch it, run msinfo32 app from run box, and see what it says for BIOS Mode
this. u probably disabled UEFI boot.

u may not actually need to
open Disk Management, then look at the drive C: or whereever u intend to put linux

if u see ANY mention of Bitlocker shown there, then u must take further steps

u see in middle. bios mode
so u must boot the usb stick in same manner (uefi)
in order to have a compatible dual-boot installation

see this link.. the post with hearts. make sure WFS is OFF
u can check via method 1 in that link
delete that A: partition and leave unallocated from within Disk Management, that should help the installer later.

yep
hang on tho
on the right, the boot list, it's near the bottom,
on the left which is the temporary boot menu, it just says plain USB
I would use the right hand screen, and move linpus lite to go ABOVE Windows Boot Manager

it's gonna make an ESP and call it partition 3 in that free space, then it's gonna make a linux ext4 partition in the remaining free space and call it partition 4
and put linux on it
