So I was trying to Linux Mint 22 on the free space I have In a 1TB drive where there's already another version of Linux Mint installed but when I tried to start installing it showed the error "ubi-partman failed with exit code 10" but I continued anyways which showed it's installing but even after few hours it did not get installed

that's an extremely weird partition layout and an unusual error. does restarting the pc and then running the installer again still throw the error?
yeah i tried 3 times
are you pressing on something else in the partitioning screen?
last time i continued anyway and put it on install all night
no
I'm not sure I understand at what point exactly you get the error
when I create the partition and install
@austere imp
should i do it again and show the screen shot?
okay here's what you gonna do
in disks or gparted app, make a 256 MB partition and select it's type to be EFI
then make another one and select it to be ext4/btrfs and size whatever is left
it's seperate, that's the point
select fat32 then
hmm okay, I have no idea how to deal with this then
did you verify the image?
I think it's installing now
I removed the new ext partition
Restarted and went through the installation again
what's the outcome?
I installed it and it's working fine!
I got so busy customising i forgot to thank @austere imp
Thanks a lot
@mortal aurora I'll post pics sometime later
did u erase the old Mint?
yeah this is Mint 22. what's your Disks app show? just curious
i have the previous mint still there
sorry i was blind. didnt notice 2nd pic
I think ur active EFI is still on the other disk. beware this may cause issues if u try to boot Windows and the external drive is not plugged in.
yeah it's on the other drive, but i have the hdd and ssd inside my pc so it won't be a problem
yep i used it for a long time
i can't wipe it out yet cause i have work stuff in there
I also see u switched your file manager to Nautilus
yess
