boot the live usb up and run gparted and resize it

#

that means selecting an adjacent partition on it that has space, and shrinking it. Then once you see unallocated space, you extend the linux partition over it.

#

how are you attempting it?

earnest compass
#

you must also ensure Fast Startup in Windows is off

#

since you mention a dual boot

So Windows boots up fine?

idle lantern
#

yeah

check mokutil --sb-state

idle lantern
#

its disabled

earnest compass
#

ok, just boot up Windows now

idle lantern
#

im on it

earnest compass
#

open the "Run" box

#

and do msinfo32

#

what's the bios mode say

idle lantern
#

UEFI

earnest compass
#

does it mention secure boot being off there as well?

idle lantern
#

yeah

#

it says its off

earnest compass
#

off right?

#

kool. what is brand of your pc?

idle lantern
#

HP

earnest compass
#

on HP, F9 is boot menu

#

do you have the same usb u installed Mint with, or did it get erased or altered?

idle lantern
#

it erased

earnest compass
#

no OS on it?

idle lantern
#

no just gparted

earnest compass
#

gparted-live?

idle lantern
#

yeah

earnest compass
#

how did you prepare the usb?

idle lantern
#

rufus

earnest compass
#

ok well it should boot, how far do u reach, when u turn on machine and press F9?

idle lantern
#

It brings me too grub

earnest compass
#

no good, when u press F9, you're supposed to see a list of bootable things

idle lantern
#

Ohhh I’ve been pressing f10

#

(Revios = windows)

earnest compass
#

f10 is recovery in HP. no good

idle lantern
#

no I ment I’ve been pressing f10 before but I pressed f9 and it brought me here but I don’t know what to do

earnest compass
#

ohhh

#

it is possible that rufus did not make the usb UEFI bootable

#

either redo it, or get ventoy from ventoy, net to redo it

#

and use gpt option for uefi system in either one

#

^ if using ventoy for windows, (ventoy2disk.exe) u set the option like that in pic. then hit install (to the usb)

#

then copy the gparted-live (or any linux like puppy linux) onto the newly empty usb drive labelled VENTOY

#

then boot it
