#Installer stuck on title screen
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I tried install again using a different usb port on the case, and choosing “compatibility mode”. It seems to be doing something.
it may be the TV is overscanning
you can type alt-F2 to bring up a run box, and type cinnamon-settings
to get to the "control panel" and find Displays and set lower res.
or use the tv remote to turn off overscan
Install process completed now through “compatibility mode”, but after reboot, blank screens on monitors. Compatibility mode didn’t utilize the TV.
Black screen boot issues:

I found a solution. For future people, you need to go into the recovery mode, click boot normally, then open the terminal and type sudo nano /etc/default/grub and edit the line "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" " to be GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset" (adding nomodeset) this fixes the error and lets you proceed to default loading.
. ctrl-o to save, plus enter.
forgot exactly how to get to recovery mode but u can hold shift or tap esc many times, 4 seconds after power on for a while
then hit e, then tag nomodeset to the quiet splash part there
then boot, then do the nano fix above
I hit escape many times. “Grub>” is showing. Is that where I need to be?
meh i dont think it installed properly
dont use compatibility mode
make sure if u have a computer of the last 8 or 9 years, to do a uefi install not legacy mode
New custom build. 6 months ago
and that secure boot , bios fast boot, and windows fast startup is off (if windows present)
or try again to go into recovery mode
LOL. The first user input screen is on the TV.
After entering PW, the panel doesn’t show up.
it'll switch the login field to other screen if you move the mouse widely
set your res if u want
then see driver manager
I can’t even bring up a terminal, with keyboard.
If I disable secure boot, will it boot when it is enabled again?
not if u have nvidia card or any hardware needing proprietary auxilliary kernel drivers
I’m going to try XFCE to see if there’s any difference
So since there’s an nVidia card installed, and there’s no proprietary drivers? What about nouveau?
well it may work or not
And it would be the same for installing Ubuntu LTS?
Disabling secure boot didn’t help
well as long as u get to desktop, then driver manager, then apply reco'd nvidia driver.. then reboot and it should work
do the nomodeset via the grub 'e for edit' thing i discussed if needed to reach the desktop
or pop os, w/ nvidia support in live mode boot should totally work
you're welcome! Is it behaving nicely on your screens?
