Hi. After installation finishes, the lemony linux icon or something that looks like it, spins and says to eject the disc and then hit Enter. after i do that, the text instruction disappears but the wheel keeps turning. left for 5-10 minutes then restarted the system and it boots and works fine but i'm worried i did something wrong or that something went wrong.

It looks like it failed to restart and you had to give it a kick in the butt. This is certainly annoying but you did nothing wrong and shouldn't worry about it

If there is an issue where you encounter the same issue there is a sequence of keys that like control+alt+delete work at a very low level to force the system to do a safe reboot

#

The magic SysRq key is a key combination understood by the Linux kernel, which allows the user to perform various low-level commands regardless of the system's state. It is often used to recover from freezes, or to reboot a computer without corrupting the filesystem. Its effect is similar to the computer's hardware reset button (or power switch...

#

basically hold down alt+sysreq followed by r e i s u b you should be able to let go of sysreq as long as you hold down alt

#

so basically hold down alt and press sysreq r e i s u b

#

in sequence not at once

This is less important in the case you encountered because everything was already unmounted presumably however in the case where your installed system is hung up this can help ensure you don't lose work or mess up your files
