#when i click on librewolf in the panel it opens in another tab
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
mint 21.3 cinnamon
i reinstalled librewolf, removed ~/.local/share/applcations/librewolf*
i had the same problem like 2 years ago but i forgot how i fixed it
settings: applets: search classic panel launcher and add it.
get rid of pinnable grouping launcher, and use classic
u can move the new applet by entering panel edit mode on r-click and dragging it
there is no classic panel launcher
there is a panel launcher but that is something completely different
add it n try
yeah but when u click any app in it that u set up a launcher for, it will open new WINDOWS not new tabs
but i also need open windows to have a tab
open tasks are meant to show as window buttons applet aka task manager applet
is there a way to show open windows in the launcher or not?
right click maybe
theres nothing in the applet settings related to that
check what applets u have in play currently. u should have from left to right: cinnamon menu, "classic" panel launcher, tasklist (aka task manager aka window buttons), network/systray, time/calendar, show desktop
other applets are not important, i just need to fix librewolf in the launcher applet
i do have all the applets you listed in my panel
so when u launch anything (be it librewolf, file manager, etc) by clicking it in classic launcher applet, it will spawn new windows on each click
the problem is that librewolf spawns in a new tab
those new windows will appear as textless buttons in the taskbar to the right of the launcher
well check its settings
the default is open all in new tabs
and i checked /usr/share/application/librewolf.desktop and ~/.local/share/applications/librewolf.desktop
so u should find that setting and undo it
all other apps open in the tab that is already there
except for librewolf
there is no setting to do that
should be in librewolf. it uses same framework as firefox
i know, but i didnt change any settings in librewolf
i have been using the same config for almost 3 years
can also try Ctrl-click
same problem with that
might be some 'grouping' setting in either the panel's taskbutton applet, or the launcher's applet
re-add the grouping pinnable launcher and comb thru that applet's settings
i already did that
and it didnt change anything
the left tab doesnt work but it launches librewolf
the right tab groups instances of librewolf together like it should
im just gonna use timeshift to fix it
from what I see, you're calling things tabs that are not, and confused me.
there's a launcher applet | there's a window buttons/tasklist applet
from the above pic, it seems to perform normally. a launcher on the left spawns a task item on the right. (in this case, multiple instances and grouped)
is it a Flatpak package?
no
i followed these
taht's fine. Idk what it is about it
I had thought u meant tabs in a different sense instead of windows
i dont mean tabs in the browser
yeah these are tabs
I guess do the Timeshift
i tried to do that and it didnt fix it
i also purged librewolf and removed every file in my home dir related to librewolf but that also didnt work
oh i see. probably some settings embedded in home folder which would exclude reverting
do u have another browser to test with?
i can install firefox
to determine if it's a panel applet issue,
or something highly engrained in the browser itself
same problem
hang on, let me find a reference
https://youtu.be/nZ59ps1cGvI?t=410 watch from timestamp, the first minute (or further if you wish) something about window numbers and the grouping applet.
Today we look at the beta release for the next LMDE and talk about the differences between this and the last release.

these things dont change my problem
idk what breaks the applet, something about browser just breaks it sometimes
i found the fix
open the menu editor and move librewolf from network to something else
then repin to the panel
