On my phone my router can output 1080p videos no problem with all the people living in the house connected in an completely different room. In that same room my pc sometimes struggles to output 720p youtube videos without lag, barely does 400 kb/s while my phone can do over 1.5 Mb/s in the same room. Any solutions? I use an usb 3.0 antena.
#How do i improve my internet connection?

ethernet
u mean a USB 3.0 WiFi dongle?
I think so
if so, get a small usb extension cable, and put the wifi adapter on the end of it
and locate it better
Very Cheap one, 7 euros, i would suppose its causing problems
like 3 to 5 foot extension
there's probably too much shielding metal near it riht now
move laptop
Ethernet, getting closer to the router, checking drivers for your wifi card in your device, etc
My room is like 6-7 meters away, and the router is connected to the tv box we have ( that's what i think because we always had trouble reconnecting when unplugging the router, shutting it down without unplugging is fine but with is not)
You love with your parents right? Or at least someone who shares your home internet?
Ah cool, so drivers?
If not and if you pay for it and nobody else uses it just put it in your room or in a cupboard
Just anything closer to your device
Im 14, dont have a way to pay for it really
I mean you might as well just update all the drivers you can, and bios too if you havent in a while
Ill do the bios when its sun outside, i really dont wanna brick the pc
If you want to brick your PC download free Robux, ram and always use developmentental / experimental versions of your stuff thats not stable and still in beta
Updating bios every week ain't going to brick it unless youre doing something wrong
But if you brick your PC from a bios update you just don't deserve to use technology
dont touch the bios. its easy to ruin pc
Yea i agree, but the motherboard is kinda old, like supports 9th gen intel
Yea that's what im worried about
Updating it is completely harmless at most it'll make your hardware run unstavly but nothing brick worthy, messing around and tweaking stuff in the bios is for sure though
any i-series, even gen 1 is not old
Like overclocking
Im not sure how smart it is to overclock a celeron in itself
I mean old CPUs have alot of overclocking headroom + they're piss easy to cool
i've seen ppl where it gets stuck halfway. or a poor update makes pc worse. updating firmare is the ABSOLULTE DEAD LAST RESORT imo
I don't wanna overclock, i could enable XMP if haven't already
is it a box or laptop?
I haven't updated my firmware in over 4-5 years
good
Computer, 4gb of ram, nothing special
Just slow not old
the metal of the computer might be shielding. like i said, buy a USB A male to USB A female extension cord (5 feet / 150 cm)
I think i could just upgrade the cpu to an 9th gen one that my motherboard supports but i planned to use ryzen for school i plan to go to, i don't like the "never discount" policy with intel
That isn't going to do much for your internet honestly
So how are you currently connected to the internet?
Dongle
I meant is an in a actually want a half decent pc
.
What stunner said + even 4th gen is still usable nowadays even in somewhat heavy games
check in the system tray the wifi connection, it might show strength like a small bar graph. try before and AFTEr using an extension cord, or better WiFi dongle
But upgrade to like a 9600k if you want
Well i just wanna run youtube lagless, im watching all my other stuff on either my laptop or my phone, i just wanna have a decent connection that i can fix without having to constantly buy new stuff, atleast 720p lagless
use this, do a before and after test
and note the bitrate AND the jitter
before = current location of pc
after = new location of pc, or with extension usb cord
Bruh ill just settle with a better dongle
fine. u can still use the speed test site above to compare quality
my intel haswell is old
