#Installing Balena Etcher Linux Mint

Try ventoy2disk at ventoy.com Once Ventoy is on the USB, you just copy and paste ISOs to the drive
I have already tried it because it could not load the iso I have the exact error just no longer in my head
could you please help me i don't know my way around very well
You could try the AppImage of Balena Etcher
tbh ventoy is the easier and more handy one because if you have to clean the hard drive before windows, then u can add extra bootable tools to the same USB
@whole relic see "Tech hut ventoy" on youtube for how to do it. and when u launch the GUI, go to options: partition style, and pick GPT to prep ur USB.
@whole relic btw after you solve it close za channel
(just edit the title tags from the tag menu to solved) and write your solution briefly here.
wait i just got another error message after i booted the iso
I'll take another screenshot in a moment
Am in vc again
when executing the appimage nothing happens at first when I try it via the terminal it says it needs FUSE
install fuse
Can you help me with this?
sudo apt install fuse
The following packages have unfulfilled dependencies: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk : Depends on: xdg-desktop-portal (>= 1.14.0) but should not be installed E: Error: Interruptions caused by pkgProblemResolver::Resolve; this may have been caused by retained packages.
but xdg-desktop-portal-gtk is already installed in the latest version
isn't it called fuse2?
also Mint has been appimage-ready for so long
open synaptic, search fuse2
it should already be installed, if not, mark it for installation and click apply.
I can't find fuse2 in Mint 22, just fuse
then check etcher appimage is set executable, by right-clicking it in file manager, Properties> Permissions tab
@whole relic
@solemn shadow can you maybe join 1v1 support?
hm either way it shouldnt need the user to install anything. I had Mint 18 and it ran appimages without any extra effort
ok if u stream. I'll just type
yes okey
ok it just loaded the stream
ok
yes ofc
search accessibility in start menu
turn on desktop zoom then press alt+scrollwheel back a few clicks
just so i can read the screen of synaptic better
@whole relic
idk the darn screen isnt changing
just send a screenshot
alt-shift-prnscr
ty
is it a cli or gui program ?
ok so they're green it means it's installed
.
yes i just installed it before you arrived
cool so it's good to go
yes it is already executable but it still does not open
yes it does not find any drivers when running the iso with ventoy
i can't remember exactly what it said. ask any drivers for windows @hollow wyvern
in the installation it demand him drivers
if it doesnt see space, then u have to either pre-blank the disk u want to install Windows on, or
i can also take another picture and translate it for you if that helps you
i told him to use ventoy since its the best
i didn't know windows 11 hates ventoy
if u want to dual boot, u have to shrink the mint partition first and leave the space unformatted
yup
if the other device had linux on the drive u must preblank it
then it will see the drive space and not ask about media drivers
okey how do I do that?
no os installed
boot live linux mint usb stick on other device, then launch gparted
then select the internal drive of that device
then do new partition table exactly as above as gpt
then once done, reboot windows ventoy stick, and run installer, and it should work
happens on some fussy systems
okey I'll try it out right away thanks
ahhh
if u already have ventoy usb, just add mint iso to it, together with windows 11 iso
yup ty
if STILL no good result, maybe try the Fedora Image Writer to make a bootable win iso
nevermind fedora image writer, it's only on Fedora or MS Windows
use this alternative if needed:
https://mxlinux.org/tag/live-usb-maker/
i have now added the linux mint iso to ventoy and get this error when booting the live iso https://ibb.co/dtMZ0W5
oh reboot and do verify
2nd screen of ventoy
sha256 checksum
i suspect the iso had a bad write or perhaps was a bad download
ensure the sha256 matches to that text file on mint site
or google gparted-live ISO and put that on ventoy and use that instead to clean the disk as mentioned before
note: you must wait one full minute after writing any big file to usb to ensure it safely copies without errors
and always do 'safely eject' or 'unmount' or do a proper shutdown before pulling out usb when data has been recently written to it
Which Format?
Driver error again
damn
try this tool then
Media driver for usb dvd or hard drive missing
otherwise u'll have to go to a Window computer, and download and do the media creation tool for windows 11
