#Mint froze while logging in/after booting

Coming in Benson...
To be sure, you don't have any sensitive or important data that were affected?
Were those backed up?
Haven't done any major moving to any of my backed up files since my plan was to put them on a separate partition. My files were saved in a google drive so everything is fine file-wise
Nice to hear that!
Now well, for the sake of simplicity here, we'll just assume that the installation and the files in your drive are already corrupted at this point.
To explain it simply, you interrupted an installation by removing your live media.
You still have that USB around?
Injected to the desktop or nah?
Either would work, and uhhh, you didn't wipe that no?
Thank God!
Now, looking back to the partition thing.
It's not really necessary to create another partition for your files in Linux Mint or any distro in general.
The installation process covers this up already. Usually you have two main partitions, your bootloader and your system.
The system has something called Home directory, which is under /home/user/
So are folders in the home/user/ enough for organization?
Yep!
But if you want to keep your files and system separate, it will likewise be just fine. Might just be a bit tricky to add a partition in your installation. Nonetheless, I suggest sticking with the default partitioning.
We fine on your understanding of partitions now?
Absolutely. I blame Windows for this indoctrination of mine abt partition lmao
But yeah besides that, can I restore my desktop? I kinda need it 😭
Been there too, is there anything else you need or want to know before we proceed with the reinstallation process?
In the moment, no. I'll have to go around and familiarize meself about the environment. But thanks for asking. Maybe in the future, I will refer to you :DD
Now well, you can proceed with the reinstallation process. Just boot to your USB live media like you did before and proceed normally with the entire procedure.
That oughtta do it :>
But what should I do If my screen froze in the duration of the installation?
It shouldn't, normally there's just some process going on in background. You can wait for a couple of minutes.
From my experience, the entire installation takes me less than 10 minutes.
Just make sure that the screen doesn't go inactive or anything ;>
Alright, I'll come back to know if it worked or if it froze
@formal horizon Thank you for your service today! Really helped me big time >_<
And yeah it didn't froze this time lol
It worked?
That's nice to hear, have a good one!
Uhhh
It frozee again, this time its post-installation
Was just setting up and it frozed
😭
That might be another issue on its own, which sadly I don't know how to deal with 😭
@grave citrus sorry for ping, but you got any ideas on this one?
Yeah its not letting me log in again
Weird, i turned the wifi off and on again for a sec and now its not freezing (yet, but i hope not)
Yeah its a wifi problem, for some reason if I booted up when the wifi was already on, it freezes my screen
Update: its not a wifi problem, it only worked cuz it was a new reinstall and i don't know what to do anymore lol
Oh right forgot to mention, i made the bootable USB through Rufus cuz for some reason Etcher can't detect my flash drive before or after putting the ISO file
Mint froze while logging in/after booting
Okay, today I made an observation. Before freezing after booting, I clicked the suspend button and turn the screen on again and the freeze was gone. That was cool yet annoying if it meant I must do that everytime I open Linux Mint. If anyone can help me fix this, that would to cool!
