└─sdb1 8:17 1 7.5G 0 part
Also, pls send a ss of system monitor > Disks . you can open system monitor by pressing the windows key and typing 'system monitor'
Have you tried rebooting?
its because the pc is still "installing" linux mint
Because it appears that your disks arent properly mounted. You can also go to the disks app and try to unmount and remount all non system disks
💀
yeah
Are you in the middle of installing Linux Mint?
yes
Then leave it as is
do not attempt this
i got worried with the fact that it keeps saying storage full
Just let the installer do its thing after which youll be able to reboot successfully into Mint
ngl i went to the disks app and tried mounting the thing
alr, so i just have to wait
Also, you did not specify you were installing Linux Mint in your thread. Please mention the fact that you are installing an operating system while asking for help
Should NOT have done that, but it is what it is
Yeah, just wait and follow the instructions on your screen
yeah i forgot about it because its been so much time installing
Installing Mint should not take more than 25-30 mins usually
its been hours
That isn't normal. Did you verify your .iso file before you put it on your usb?
yes
Reboot and attempt to reinstall again
i think me trying to fix the storage issue may have stalled the installation
Your installer is clearly stuck at somewhere
yeah

trying
Alright
i fear that the pc wont recognize the bios because it was using win 11
it recognized the bios 🙏
That does not even remotely make sense
i may have accidentally uninstalled win 11 and then tried to install linux mint
A computer's BIOS is completely separate from what OS it has. Deleting an OS will not even touch the BIOS
the thing is: it wasn't recognizing the files
not the bios mb
To put simply, the BIOS is stored on a separate flash storage device (think of it like a mini hdd) separately on the mobo
the bios wouldn't recognize the os*
Of course it will not. Once you run the installer the first thing is does is reformat the drive and change its file system from msft/ntfs to ext4/btfs
I hope your mint installer is now working properly
Sounds like a mounting bug
it was trying to find an archive that doesn't exist 😭
that part was fixed but I don't think it will happen again
it should not happen again, *hopefully 😅 *
Please send a pic
its in portuguese
I do not understand what you are trying to convey
No worries
Click on Yes
it's asking me to increase one of the partitions size
then increase it
just try it by clicking yes to everything, since windows is deleted and you have nothing to loose. if it still doesnt work properly then ill help you install it using the 3rd option of the installer, something different
BRO WTF
the sizes of those partitions is insane
@lavish ether any ideas about what is happening
hes offline
😭 do i just delete them or what
@onyx thunder
try
first of all, as you can see in your second and third pic u sent, sdb is the Sandisk Cruser USB, that's definitely wrong
sda is the drive to install upon
sdb is the usb drive from which the installer exists on
- your sda partitions are a total mess
- if u want to do a clean install, choose "erase disk and install Mint" it will automatically take care of the rest
- if there is current important data to save on sda, either move it to online storage, or copy it to a different USB
yeah, it asks me to increase the size of the partitions to at least 8GB
there isn't, only mint linux
no shit. why are u trying to do expert manual install?
im not 😭
.
i did, last time it wasn't asking if i wanted to erase the disk
now it asked, but still wanted me to increase the partitions size to 8 GB
im booting the pc with linux by the usb
nothing
the pc is supposed to be empty
but it was full of partitions
how old is the computer from when it was made?
DELL Inspiron 15 Series 3000
i think from 2015
k
are u booted up now in live desktop?
i saw this before and it's the old layout
@rigid blaze ??
i think yes
ok hit windows key, type disks
ok
yeah
and that's it right?
yes
click the 1 tb device
in titlebar, will say the dev name
list it please
is it dev/sda ??
@rigid blaze
my phone died sorry
yes
k. press Windows key, type gparted
in a desperate attempt to fix before i deleted the partitions and there is 902GiB unallocated
done
done
u should have only one big space now
yes
close it
931.51GiB unallocated
yeah now it appeared and worked fine
do NOT unmount sdb if asked
it didnt
thanks
i needed that computer somehow working for school & stuff
hey @rigid blaze did you install fully and successfully?
if so, then you should save and read this PDF it will help u understand Mint and how to get stuff, etc. #1272611699341660241 message
thanks
it's older, but official. latest website doesnt even have it and the online user guide barely says anything
ooh :o rare find then, appreciate it
I know what went wrong btw. You flashed the installer to the hard drive instead of onto the USB .
this pic, especially the green line and /cdrom says it all
installer only must be flashed to a usb drive, or in a DVD-recorder to a writable DVD
i dont think i knew what i was doing
well at least u made the usb later
the bootable pendrive with linux also stopped working at the time i did that
was it made with Etcher?
I formatted the pendrive and applied the iso with Rufus
did u choose dd mode or hybrid iso write in Rufus?
hybrid
it was appearing as a disk when it stopped working so ig i did choose dd
yes
so it's fine then
i would recommend to keep Mint (or Ubuntu, or some live distro) on the drive; in case u cant boot ur pc from hard drive due to some messup in future
and use Ventoy
what's that?
just make a folder with the distro?
[SOLVED] Storage almost "full"
[SOLVED] Storage almost "full"
it is a flasher tool, but it also lets u have multiple ISO/bootable tools, AND keep regular files all on one USB stick
where can i find it
i can send u the website and text
btw is it possible to have 3 different os? planning it for a future pc
is ur rufus usb empty now?
k
yes u can triple boot 3 permanent os on one computer
u can watch the youtube link in yellow
k, ty
i think my text instructions are as clear as can be
