I made the attempt to do the upgrade using the Mint Update Manager and it all went fine till the reboot. Now Mint does not load or reinstall on that system. I was able to get Fedora to install. I have been having issue with Mint on the CMP for bit, could not update the kernal past a certain one. Fedora 40 in running a newer kernal and it is running fine. Anyone have any idea as to why Mint may not work anymore for that system?

There could be multiple reasons but the most probable is that your system doesn't like the 6.8 line of kernels (which mint is currently using). I recommend trying to install mint in maybe 3-4 weeks after Wilma stabilizes a bit
Fedora 40 uses the Kernal 6.8 as well and that is working fine.
Fedora 40 uses a different version of the 6.8 kernel if i recall correctly
can you be more specific on mint won't boot? there are a lot of things that could go wrong
